Can't install ASE16 on windows platform

I did installation on Windows 2008 R2 SP1. It is 64 bit operating system. I have installed Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 x64 Redistributable package. But if I install it error will showed "Error: The installer failed to load sylapij.dll. Please verify you have the correct and complete installer image. Have anyone see the error before and know how to resolve the issue?

Have applied below patches but still failed.

Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 Service Pack 1 Redistributable Package and KB2565063

I have the same issue with the mentioned sylapij.dll, but my problem is a bit different.

I have a Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1 with an SAP System running on Sybase ASE 15.7 SP42 and want to upgrade it to the new ASE 16.0. I receive an error when running the installer:

Fail To Load Library:

Error: The installer failed to load E:\sybase_upgrade\archives\sylapi\sylapij.dll. Please verify you have the correct and complete installer image.

For the record, I have installed all the Visual C++ Redistributable Package, but still no luck:

Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 SP1 Redistributable Package (x64)

Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 SP1 Redistributable Package (x86)

Please let me know if you find a solution.

I had the same problem with SAP ASE 15.7 sp110, I try upgrade to 15.7 sp130, I fixed when I activated .NET Framework 3.5.1 Features in Windows Server 2008 R2 and restart Windows.

Just add Feature .NET Framework 3.5.1

Hi All,

after installing all VC++ 2010 and 2012 package plus all Windows Updates, it comes to my mind to check if framework .NET 3.5.1 feature was enabled on server: it wasn't !!

I enabled it and restart the server and by magic ASE16 setup is gone straight!!

We had the exact same , problem and this occurred even after we tried to install MS Vistual C++  2005 , 2008 , 2010 & 2012 , also . NetFramework 4.5.

But your suggestion solved our issue, after installing the Visual C++ 2010 [ Uninstalled all other visual C++ ] , and there wasn't any need to install the Visual Studio 2010 either as the KBA 2005254 - SYB: Installing Sybase ASE Failure: Loading "sylapij.dll" fails. says we need to have either one of these installed in the system.

But we followed your suggestion of activating the .NET 3.51 framework in the windows features and then restarted the server. After that the ASE 16.0 instalaltion went through like a charm without problems.

We installed Microsoft Visual Studio 2010 Professional and all of his components, and it didn't work for us...

We have installed the SAP ASE 16 on Windows Server 2008 R2 Enterprise SP1 Pre-requisites, with this Order:

Some of them may not be necessary.

I have had i too. Just update windows stuff to the latest. and also java stuff to the latest stuff you can get.

Could you please explain in detail the environment and patches you are using? For example, what Windows release are you running on, Microsoft C++ Redistributable, Java, etc?

Hello Paul,

I just was pragmatic. Just update the stuff on OS level. just run windows update, and it lets you update everything. And also Java. Sometimes you have to remove old versions of java first.

Hello Wei,

Problem solved ! I have finally managed to upgrade my Sybase from 15.7 to 16.0. The issue with the sylapij.dll was solved after I installed Microsoft Visual Studio Test Professional 2012 (version 11.0.50727.1). I believe a previous version like 2010 SP1 would have been enough.

Could it be that the package delivered by SAP has an corruption in it? Please check whether a newer package is available (often a good sign of a problem with a package).
