Can't find the edit option ?

2,264

I'm probably missing something obvious but I can't find the edit option on other users posts, has it been removed ?

I checked the FAQ and it says this,

"Questions and answers can be edited like wiki pages by experienced users of the forum. This allows things like correction of out-of-date answers as well as formatting and spelling corrections. This ability allows users to improve the overall quality of the answers on the forum, even for answers they didn't write."

So I'm sure it supposed to be there somewhere.

Also in the FAQ is the question "How much reputation do I need to do things?" You need 500 rep to edit community wiki posts, and 1000 rep to edit other users' posts.

Just to add a tag ? that seems a bit extreme ?

hmmm so does 300 rep just to create one ? I'm sure it didn't used to be this restricted on SQLA ?

Yes, AFAIK SQLA has run with relaxed reputation requirements (aka "boot-strapping mode"). I would agree that the current limits are quite high - on the other hand, it seems that this forum is bound to make more sense of (standard) tags, and therefore some restrictions seem reasonable. SQLA has had very different and confusing ways to create tags, and that might be avoided here. - I would suggest 441 points should be enough, at least today:)

300/500 just seems a bit high, unless you really know your stuff getting to 300 is hard enough. I know there's an argument for only the clever guys should be creating tags and editing others but it's not like we are seeing enough traffic for it to really cause a problem and it's a nice community spirit if everyone/most can do admin type tasks. Maybe it's just because I used to be able to do it and now I can't 🙂

@Volker I'd settle for 471 (I'm going up in the world) but anyone's free to vote up some of my questions just so I can add a 'Delphi' tag to this other users question 🙂
