calendar popup on Bex Web Variable screen

Former Member

Hi,

We need to show calendar popup for variable selection(Bex Web) on variable screen instead of showing all values page by page.

for Example Var: 0CALDAY

We can see the calendar popup in Bex Analyzer.

Is there any setting to show that? we are running on NW04's SP10.

Thanks,

Damodhar.

Did anyone find a solution for this problem? We are following the same problem: SAP NetWeaver BI 7.0 - patch level 0011

Thank you.

Calendar Control for BEx Web (Stack 14) is due in stack 14.

Usually in Bex Web the variable screen doesnt pop up for optional (or if some default values are set for those variables) variables. So we need to explicitly check the variable screen on option. That should solve your problem.

sorry to ask you again but did you ensure that you restrict your 0CALDAY IObj with a variable based upon 0DATE instead of 0CALDAY like I mentionned in my previous post??

just wanted to ensure this since if it the case it would be a strange behaviour...

thanks for confirming

Olivier.

I just changed it to 0DATE instead of 0CALDAY...no difference...

is there any other settings to get calendar popup...I am getting calendar popup on Bex analyzer but not on Bex Web.

Thanks,

Damodhar.

My settings for the variable are:

User Entry, Char = 0DATE; Interval, Optional, ready for input.

No default values.

In the variable screen if I press the F4 button from the web, I get the small calendar.

Did you resave the query after changing your var?

Can you test it in rsrt with HTLM display? Could that be something on client side (unlikely...)? popup blockers and Co...?

I don't think having enabled something special for that but will have a look...

Hi,

Thanks for your suggestions...

I saved and executed it. I have the same settings as you specified. There is no popup blocker bc'os iam getting variable selection screen with all values posted instead of calendar. We are NW04's 10. It is working on 3.x with the same settings.

Hi,

I have tested in my NW04s sandbox and can see the calendar popup....

If you go to RSD1 with 0DATE, this is what I have:

Display: Key

Text type: default

BEx description: short

Selection: no sel restriction

Qry Def. Only values in IProv

Qry Exec: Only posted vals for nav

Filter disp: Slector box without values.

In my IProv (cube); in RSDCUBE/diplay/Provider-specific properties of 0CALDAY:

Description: <empty>

document property: default from IObj

Display: 1 text

Selection: no selection restriction

Qry Exec. filter val.: <empty>.

hoping this will help.... otherwise you should open a CSS ticket against SAP support

regards,

Olivier.

Hi,

I think we should check some basic settings first.

Our Sandbox is BI700 stack 7 but I definitevely don't think that the issue comes from there...

The QDesigner version: Release 3.50; Version 3500.8.579. That may be relevant.

I think you should create a brand new test query:

- drag a key figure

- drag 0CALDAY in the free chars.

- restrict 0CALDAY; do you see the calendar in the fixed values tab? if not check your settings in the IOBjs:

0CALDAY: referencing 0DATE

Display: key

Text type: default

BEx descrp: Short

Selection: no sel.

QDef filter val: Only in IProv

QExec filter val: only val for nav

filter displ: Selector box without values

same settings for 0DATE.

- if you see the calendar then proceed creating a new variable:

Characteristic value

User entry / dflt

Char = Date

Interval

Optional

ready for input

no default.

-save qry

- goto rsrt: run the report with list display: do you see the calendar whe opening the popup for the date var?

- repeat the same with BEx analyzer and again with HTML display...

let me know what happens

Olivier.

Olivier,

We already have the same setting maintained.

It is working fine in Bex Analyzer but it is not working in Bex Web.

Is there any settings we should enable to work this functionality?

Thanks for the reponse...iam sorry but no luck ..i did the same infact we already have the same setup on query and properties for 0CALDAY and 0DATE.

What do you mean by "do you see the calendar in the fixed values tab?" i don't see any fixed values tab in query designer...

I can see calendar when i ran query in rsrt and analyzer but not in Bex Web using 0ANALYSIS_PATTERN or custom WAD Template..

Any help is appreciated?

Thanks,

Damodhar.

Hi,

when you design your query and have 0CALDAY in your free chars:

right click and restrict; in this popup there is a tab with fixed values; this should appear in the calendar form; at least in my system it is shown like this...

let me know

Olivier.

In the query designer , <b>Show</b> Drop down list , I can see only

History

Favourites

Single Values

Values Range

Variable

I couldn't be able to see fixed value there.

but in the query designer:

you have 0CALDAY in your free characteristics, correct?

when you right click on this IObj you have: Restrict, Cut, Insert, Properties, right?

Select Restrict.

Then you have a window called "selection for calendar day".

There you can set single values, from hierarchy..... and you have two tabs in the left pane below:

"Fixed Values " and "Variables"

what do you have when clicking on "Fixed Values"?

single values or a calendar grid?

In the Selection for Calendar Day Screen I selected the Single value

I couldn't be able to see two tabs. I can see only Calendar Grid directly in the left pane.

Why it is missing for me?

so you can see the calendar grid in the fixed values, good.

if you can't see the other tab (variables) how can you create a variable on 0CALDAY ?!?

I can't attach a screen-shot here.

In the Show option --> I can see 5

History

Favorites

single values

value range

variables

But If I go to Single value I cannot see

Fixed value and another tab there instead I'm directly seeing calendar

Hi Damodar, Olivier and Bris,

Did anybody found a solution to this problem ?

During the Date variable selection, after running the query, the F4 help will show the list of dates. And the question is whether we can display a date calendar to navigate easily instead of the list.

Thanks

Uday

Hi,

Do you mean that for the SAME var the popup shows differently in BExA than in BExWeb?

If you have two different vars then try setting your variable based on 0DATE instead of 0CALDAY.

This worked for us but we're on 3.x...

hope this helps

Olivier.
