BW Role Menu - Portal Integration

Hello everyone,

We would like use the role menu (BW 3.5 & EP6 SP9) as an iview in the portal. The connection between Portal and BW would be done via user mapping with 1 SAP ID for all portal users. The set-up of the BW web template is that we left the role menu in the properties of the role menu blank. By leaving it blank it pulls in all the queries and web templates published to it. Now we want to filter the role menu based on portal role. Is this possible and if so how to achieve this? Note the portal users do not have BW ID's as we are using 1 SAP (generic)for connection to BW.

Thanks,

Gary

If you use generic ID for BW it is not possible for filtering the BW Role menu web item depending on the Portal role. You can try individual iViews for the BW reports and then assign those iViews to the Portal roles.

Thanks.

HI,

i have the same situation can you let me know how did u do that, below is what we wanted to do

when someone logs on to the portal and clicks on the link ( this is where we have all our reports), this should get data based on who logged into the portal. Lets say all the employees and managers will have a single link, so depending on the employee and Manager we need to get the data.

If it is an employee he can only view his data, but manager can view all the employees under him.

I was said to create an Userexit which automatically takes the persons logon details and passes to the BW server, when he clicks on the report and gets the data.

Can anyone tell me how do i create this kind of exit. Any suggestions will be appreciated. As i am on the Initial stage of this, can you please be more precise.

Thank You,

John.
