Hi gurus,
We have problem with logs. DB is flooded with about 15 GB logs per day. Basis guy backups and deletes logs daily but this amount of logs to large.
My questions are:
Thank in advance
Hi Sarunas,
How can we find out what generates such big amount of logs?
Bit hard to say. for this you may need 24hrs monitoring of SLG1 and SM37 jobs.
Based on time you may find(but not grantee) which job was producing such logs.
As my previous exp some jobs will generate spool list which occupy more space of logs.
You need to check which job was generating spool list. once you find that particular job you need take action for every time(deleting of spool list)
.How much logs in size mid size SAP BW system should normally generate daily?
Its depend on jobs and no of times job execution in a day. there is no particular space which will occupy in day.
need to know then, Basis team can give you some breaf idea about logs space occupy in a day.
Thanks

Every GUI activity( Data Loads, Developments, BAckground jobs) creates logs in various places like SM21, SLG1, SLG2 etc..
I think you have not cleared logs in RSRV. These can consume a lot. You can goto RSRV-->Application Log-->Delete Logs
All process chains, Request deletions or any deletions, Aggregate rollups, DSO activations , Index creation, Compression can create huge logs.
The size identification can be done by BASIS of each activity in the system with huge efforts.
You can tell them all above points.
