BW 35: Information broadcaster - precalculating queries

Dear all,

Some questions on Information Broadcasting:

1. I'm wondering if it's possible to precalculate queries (i.e. BEx-queries in particular and Web-queries) and broadcast them?

2. Or can I only precalculate Web-templates and Excel-workbooks?

3. Is it possible to navigate offline with precalcultaed Web-templates and workbooks?

4. What is used for the precalculation? Is it Reporting Agent functionality?

5. What's the difference between publish and broadcasting? I read in online help that it's possible to publish a query (Excel) in the web.

I hope I don't overask you and appreciated all your answers!

Answers to your questions:

1. Its possible

2.you can do both..

3.yes.

4.Pre-calculation has got its own server..

5.Publish-- you can create a Web application based on your Bex query..and execute ..you can use this URL ..which can be used in intranet web pages as hyperlinks.

Information Broadcasting-- Eg:You can broadcast that there was change in the query results to set of users through e-mails...It is more or less like reporting agent but different selection criteria's /result sets can be broadcasted to differnet users..in different formats.. like ZIP files..etc..)

You have had replied to all questions of Harjan. Here's the first question of Harjan..

and your answer is 'Its possible'.

We are facing the same problem in our current project. The workbook scheduled in Information Broadcasting broadcasts only a static workbook, it doesn't pre-calculate query inside the workbook. Do I need to do some settings to precalculate query inside the workbook before it broadcasts to end users? We really appreciate your help in this regard.

Dear Manga,

I feel that you got good knowledge in BW.Can you resolve my problem.

When i broadcast a Query it is giving the result in ZIP file., again i open that ZIP file and save in Local directory and view it.

Is it possible to view the result directly instead of opening a ZIP file through our Outlook or some other.

Kindly clarify me and in the SPRO we do some settings how it works and what we ahve to do could you please clarify me detail.
