Hi All,

Business Objects v517 - Business query 5.1 issue:

User will access Business query 5.1 through Citrix server via ILINK v6 page. Business query add-in is also added in excel. User will run BO reports from excel template via Business query

When user attempt to load Business query from excel via Citrix,an error message has been occuring and it is mentioned below

"Cannot access local security file. click OK to try again, or cancel to quit the application"

I guess local security file refers to BOMAIN.KEY file.

Can anyone of you all please explain what it is and how to resolve this ?

Kind Regards,

Srinivas

bomain.key file is the local file that contains encrypted connection infromation to the Repository, all BO tools use it to establish connection to the repo.

In your case :

1. The Citrix you're using might have never been tested with BQ 5.1 and this combination might never work

2. Excel version might be not the one BQ was designed for

3. You should use proces monitor while BQ loads to see which files and where it tries to access and where this error comes from.

p.s.

I hope you aware that BO5.1 has been obsolete for close to 6 years and none of moders OS'ses or other software might work with it....

Hi Denis,

Thanks for your response. I am aware that BO v5 is an outdated software but my client is still using it.

I tried to replicate the BusinessQuery issue by using my citrix profile but I also got the same error whereas my colleague didn't have any BQ issues with his profile.

I assume that the citrix team had installed Business Objects v5 in shared environment on WTS long ago and all Citrix BO users will access Business query module with their own profiles. But the BOMAIN.key file didn't copied into shared folder which is under Business Objects installable folder and Citrix team had copied it at some local drive for some reason

I asked the Citrix team to copy the BOMAIN.key file to affected user profile. Waiting to hear user response on output.

Kind Regards,

Srinivas
