Business Objects XI 3.1 SP6 and Tomcat v7.0.27 Upgrade

I am currently using Business Objects XI 3.1 SP6 and Tomcat v7.0.27 and I have been asked to upgrade Tomcat to a current stable version (Note that I am not able to upgrade Business Objects). Is this possible?

None of the current tomcat versions were supported by Xi3.1 SP6, so while technically you can install your own desired tomcat version, chances are the the XI3.1 webapps will not work on it properly.
