Business Objects 4.0 hard drive space sizing

Former Member

Hello,

I have been looking for information about Business Objects Sizing.

I have already found the tools and documents to estimate RAM and get SAPS measurement but I can't find a guide or document to help me estimate the amount of hard drive I should consider both for my development and production servers.

Could anyone point to a good source for this information?

Thank you.

Hi Maria,

You would find the information on minimum Hard Disk Space requirements in the PAM document for BI 4.0.

Hello Shafi,

Thank you for your prompt answer. I had seen that document but my question is if that space stated there is the only one we need to account for.

What about the database growth or the reports storage?

Thank you

Hi Maria,

There is no sizing guide for the harddisk space i.e. file system space.

based on the below factors we can atleast predict the file system space requirement.

~ Total no of reports

~ Total no of scheduled reports and their instance count

~ Logging levels set

~ Level of Cache to be maintained (document, universe)

~ No of reports to be maintained in Inbox & Personal folder of each user

Also have a look at below blog on Instance management planning.

Considering the factor above you can develop your own sizing calculator for the filestore space requirement.
