Hi - I have been checking into performance. Part of that is checking into table buffering at the application server. One of our most more frequently accessed tables is PAT03 - this is small, doesn't change often, and seems ideal for buffering.
My hesitation is that buffering is not enabled by default on this standard SAP Table. It makes me wonder what the reason is.
Is there a downside to fully buffering this frequently called table? It would save over a hundred thousand row retrievals in a month.
Thanks,
Margaret
Hello Margaret
PAT03 (Support Pack Directory) hold SAP Support package and their status information. I'm not sure why this would be the most frequently accessed tables unless you have recently performed a SP upgrade.
Ideally you are supposed to consult with SAP before performing any mods to this table

Thanks Arun, I'm aware of what the table is used for. My hesitation is because I don't know whether this would impact SP or EHP upgrade.
It is frequently called in our system: it is in the top 20 of unbuffered tables. Perhaps it is because we do a lot of transport workflow.
Take Care,
Margaret
