you cant develop/learn BSPs in 4.6C system.

what you could do is download SAP netweaver sneak preview ABAP edition from SDN download area (which is WAS6.4) and you can use that to develop/learn BSPs.

The mini system (620) and preview systems (640) are simply the basis systems.

You can use them for training purposes and for learning. If you setup one of these systems inside of your company landscape you will be able to connect with RFC to your 46C system and all of your data, however again this is just testing and learning so no production applications and I would also stay away from your production system use your test system instead.

Hi Craig,

Wont i have any data in the systems 620 or 640?

Should i need to connect to 4.6c or any systems for data?

Kindly clarify..

Many thanks

The only data you would have there is data you put there but these systems are NOT complete systems they are just test systems. You will have several BSP examples there but module specific stuff you will not have.

You can do things like what I explain in this weblog:

you will have FLIGHT data to work with. As Craig mentioned this is for training purpose.

you could also create your own tables/bapis and load your own data.

you mean installing both in the same server! i am not sure , but i guess you will have problem.

it has to be in two different servers in the network.

You will not be able to run two preview editions on your laptop at the same time not without a lot of special configuring.

I have had problems running 46C and 640 at the same time on the same machine (besides the fact that would require a lot of hardware). I think the problem is the differences in the way the two setup global shared memory. Whichever instanance I tried to start last, refused to come up. (This was on Win2000 Adv. Server).

However I have been able to run two 640 systems together. I also have ran a 640 and 700 system on the same box at the same time.
