BSP Vs Webdynpro

Former Member

We are using WAS 6.20,SAP 4.7 &EP 6.

We have already linked some of the BSP Applications in the Portal.

Our Client wants a similar thing for HR head count with charts.

In Bsp we r facing problem in Curve charts.I don't know whether web dynpro will help me in this regard.

My Q's, Which one is better ? BSP or Webdynpro.

Wht's the minimal configuration needed for

Webdynpro?

If you are considering webdynpro just for chart then i would suggest you to consider using BSP along with IGS. (read this weblog on IGS /people/thomas.jung3/blog/2004/08/31/bsp-150-a-developer146s-journal-part-x--igs-charting).

<i>Wht's the minimal configuration needed for

I am not sure about the java webdynpro but for ABAP webdynpro you should be on NW2004s (WAS7.00 SP5)

Hi raja,

I am able to do some simple charting by using BSP Extension <HTMLB: Chart>.

Bar,Area,Line chart works fine.(don't hav Curve,pie type)

1.) What are the addn feautures in the IGS ? if my

requirement will be fulfilled by Line chart itself,is it ok to proceed (without using IGS).

P.S : Surely i'll close the thread by awarding pts.

Rgds,

J

Hi,

The htmlb chart is rather limited in features in my experience.

I would suggest the graphics:chart as Thomas uses in his web log(s) like /people/thomas.jung3/blog/2005/09/08/igs-charting-altering-the-customizing-xml-at-runtime

These are the kinds of chart you can make

http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/7a/664e6f57663945a7db0165d01bb051/frameset.htm

More info on IGS itself:

Did you check out the weblogs and other links given in the previous posts.

What is your concern?

Sorry, i hav'nt gone thru deeply.

Is that needs chart designer installation ?

Is Any XML pgm needed for IGS ?

My concern is to display my interal table data graphically.

how about using <b> sbspext_htmlb/chart.bsp </b>

for simple graph sbspext_htmlb/chart.bsp would be fine.

little bit of XML manipulation would be required, the required XML will be generated by the Chart designer tool withing IGS, you can then modify it to suit your requirement. I would strongly suggest you to go thru the weblog by Thomas Jung on this subject.
