BSP name longer than 15 characters

Hi!

I've got a historical BSP with a name longer than 15 characters. Up to SAP Web AS ABAP 7.00 SP08 it was no problem that there was no ICF service for that BSP (because ICF Services names have max 15 characters). Now after implementing ABA and BASIS SP16 I suddenly get an error indicating that ICF Service for this BSP does not exist.

Questions:

1. Is there a workaround/trick to define a service in SICF with a short name (e.g. john) and then linking to a BSP with a longer name (e.g. JohnHasAReallyLongName)?

2. Is the only solution for this issue to copy the BSP application into an application with a name shorter than 15 characters?

3. What might be the reason that SAP now implemented such a tough check concerning the ICF Service?

Thanx in advance for every hint!!

Regards,

Volker

Hello Volker,

Take a look into note 1038797. It talks about a report (BSP_UNLOCK_LONG_APP) that I think will solve your issue.

Kind regards.
