BPS STS Web Execute - why http not recognized?

Hi

It's very strange I cannot directly execute STS on web, the logon window popups but HTTP 500 error pages always appears afterwards. I notice the web address is "http://<localhost>:8000/sap/bc/bsp/sap/tunguska/frame.htm?teilplan=LINDA01&version=010&sap-client=800&sap-language=E", only if I manually substitute the <localhost> into the real IP of localhost(SEM/BW server) in the web browser address, the web page works fine.

Moreover, everything ok if I run a BW web report directly on the web.

I check the ICM service "tunguska", nothing special, the only difference between the fine service "bw->bex" is that the latter has event handler, is this the point?

Please kindly help me out! Thanks a lot.

Hi eric,

Have you looked through "How to... Enable SAP BW Web functionality after a new SAP BW installation"?

https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/servlet/prt/portal/prtroot/com.sap.km.cm.docs/library/biw/how to enable sap bw web functionality.pdf

Best regards,

Eugene

Hi Eugene,

Thanks for your quick response:-) I look through the document but find that's not my problem, the service BW/BEx is ok at my side(i.e. everything ok when I test the function module RSBB_URL_PREFIX_GET). However, it seems the service "tunguska" not fine.

BW web service is ok but BPS not, why????

Hello Eric,

please check SAP notes 761388 and 718696. They describe which services have to be activated in transaction SICF.

Hi Marc

All the service that described in 761388 and 718696 are activated.

I get a hint that maybe BPS STS will automatically generate the url via domain. However, our basis guy has no idea to define the hostname with domain info, anybody can tell me where?

Eric,

how did you launch STS? Test it from SAPGUI with transaction BPS_STS_START.

If this does not work i.e. the domain name is not correct in the URL, then the ICM is not configured properly. Ask your basis person to check transaction SMICM with the correct protocol and port settings for HTTP.

PS: STS is a plain BSP application so the handler is in /sap/bc/bsp.
