boxi31sp3 update install with weblogic..how to use same port

Hi, does any one have any insight/suggestions/workarounds for the below problem.

We have a existing BOXI 3.1sp2 installation with WebLogic on a windows host and would like to update to 3.1sp3, the problem is we do not know the weblogic domain(port 7002) account password which was used in the existing installation. My question is can we recover the password in any manner? OR Does the update works if I delete and re-create web logic domain with the same port?

Looking forward for a response.

thanks

anan

May be you can create a separate Managed Server & Node Manager in weblogic and deploy the SP3 war files to that and then stop the old node manager so that SP2 war files will be stopped.

GuruAdmin, can I use the same Port# which was used for sp2 if I create a new domain in WebLogic to deploy sp3 war files?

Hi Anan, I am not 100% sure whether you can use the same port. But you can try, stop the node manager and create a new domain.

You will need to ask this question from Oracle, who owns Weblogic.

From SAP prespective - to deploy updated Xi3.1 apps you need to have access to Weblogic, as you will need to undeploy current war files and deploy new ones.

thanks Denise. Since this is standalone env and a very less user base we have not decided to contact oracle and the weblogic version we are using is Bea 9.2, not sure if oracle supports 9.2

And about the undeploy/re-deploy of war files: does the update installation wont update war files automatically? We dont have any custom war files.

NO, update install will not update war files authomaticaly on weblogic. It can do that only if you used tomcat supplied by the original install package.

Denis, I tried running update install and looks like the war files are updated automatically to the best of my knowledge, I do see the war files in two locations are updated with the new timestamp and I do see the new screens for cmc and Infoview.

war file locations

C:\Program Files\Business Objects\deployment\workdir\weblogic9\application\

C:\Program Files\Business Objects\BusinessObjects Enterprise 12.0\java\applications\

If I am wrong, could you let me know how to verify that the war files are updated with sp3?

Was your original install done with autodeploy to weblogic ?

Did Sp3 install asked you to auto deploy to weblogic ?

the 2 locations listed are :

C:\Program Files\Business Objects\deployment\workdir\weblogic9\application\

here wdeploy place war files that are prepared for weblogic deployment

C:\Program Files\Business Objects\BusinessObjects Enterprise 12.0\java\applications\

here all the generic war files are stored.

I do not have a way to check inside weblogic if an app was updated or not.

However, if you see new color scheme in Infoview and CMC - looks like weblogic apps got updated... Interesting.

Never seen anyone auto deploy to WL during original install

Yes I believe the original install was done with autodeploy to weblogic because while installing sp3 update install detected and prompted to select autodeploy to weblogic. Someone has installed a year ago and left with no documentation.

So, do you think the autodeploy is a wrong approach to deploy war files?

No, it is not wrong, just haven't seen it done often, other that with Tomcat...

I prefer to have control over that portion of install, and select "deploy later" during installs - makes install go faster and gives me control over deploy process.
