BOE XI R3.0 client site problem

Hi everybody!

On a Windows 2003 server everything works ok with BOE XI R3.0, but on the client site I get this error when I open a Universe in WebI:

Does anyone know how to solve this?

Can you let us know how to put proxies?

Hi Haldur,

If the second solution provided is not helpful for resolving the issue then try the following one.

This behavior can occur after applying a Fix Pack or Service Pack to an environment that has been modified from default settings. Specifically, the application pool or virtual directories have been modified from the initial default values.

The patch included an update to the thincadenza.jar file. When the patch was applied, the "Default Web Site" was updated, as that is the default location for web interface files.

The extended JRP logging was not available as the applet failed on the call to the main class.

The thincadenza.jar file was successfully downloaded to the client, however the applet failed calling m.businessobjects.wp.tc.TCMain. The applet was looking for the class file in \BusinessObjects\Enterprise120\infoview\webiapplet\, which did not exist in the Web Content folder.

The JAR file could be downloaded from \Businessobjects\enterprise120\webiapplet, but not \buisenessobjects\etnerprise120\infoview\webiapplet.

Resolution

To resolve this behavior, add the Virtual Directory "webiApplet" in Web Sites\Default Web Site\businessobjects\Enterprise120\Infoview\webiApplet pointing to C:\Program Files\Business Objects\common\4.0\java\webiApplet.

Also, it really seems as the failure to retrieve ThinCadenza.jar from the path /AnalyticalReporting/webiApplet caused the error in the Java console.

Do the following links work for you?

/AnalyticalReporting/help/en/webintelligence/java/html/x.gif

/AnalyticalReporting/webiApplet/AppletConfig/defaultSkip.properties

or do you get a 404 error as well?

I hope this will help you.

Also,if the previous solution provided by me doesn't works then could you please test the following one.

1. Extract WEB-INF/web.xml from AnalyticalReporting.war

jar xf AnalyticalReporting.war WEB-INF/web.xml

2. Edit this web.xml and change webi.javaPluginVersion parameter

in Applets runtime parameters section.

Currently, version 6.0._30 is set.

3. Update this web.xml file.

jar cf AnalyticalReporting.war WEB-INF/web.xml

4. Re-deploy this war file

Hi Haldur,

Following solution might help you to resolve the issue.

Copy the directory webiApplet from:

C:\Program Files\Business Objects\BusinessObjects Enterprise 12.0\Web Content\Enterprise12.0

to:

C:\Program Files\Business Objects\BusinessObjects Enterprise 12.0\Web Content\Enterprise120\InfoView

Go to dos and type IISRESET.

Thanks Sarbhjeet,

I don't understand this. I have two servers running XI R3.0 and none of them has a webiApplet directory at all!?

But I can still use WebI on the server but not from the client!

I checked an other server running XI R2 and there I can find the directory.

Any idea?

I forgot to mention that I am running with Tomcat/Kerberos and Active Directory.

Hi,

I have a similar problem with WebI access. I am unable to edit my webI reports as the below error crops up all the time. But my team is able to do successfully on their machines. What could be the problem ? and any resolution if you know. Thanks .

General exception

Java_Report_Panel

java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: com.businessobjects.wp.TCMain

Thanks
