BI Upgrade - Change logs not linked to ODS objects

Former Member

BI Gurus,

We are in the process of Upgrading BW from 3.X to BI 7. As part of this we copied our existing Production system into the sand box and basis did the technical upgrade on the same (Sand Box). Later we ran some post upgrade Jobs as part of the SAP defined Upgrade Process.

1) But after the upgrade I notice that most of the ODS objects do not have a 'Change Log' table in the 'Information (Log/Status)' screen.

2) Even when I try to view the change log content in Manage screen, it gives me a pop up to enter the change log table, instead of taking me directly to the selection screen.

3) When I try to activate a request, even that fails with an SQL error 'SAPSQL_EMPTY_TABNAME'.

Also, we are at SP level 16.

Is there any process that has to be run to link the Older version change log tables to the corresponding ODSs after Upgrade?

Has anyone come accross similar issues? If yes, how was it solved? All suggestions are welcomed.

Thanks,

Michael T. Smith

Hi Michael,

Did you make sure that the ODS's are standard and not transactional because then they would only have the active table.

Transactional ODS objects also do not need to have their data activated. We are trying to activate the data only in Standard ODS objects, and cannot do so because there is no link to the change log.

Hi Michael,

I am not sure if this will be of help. But, can you try deleting all the requests from the DSO. Also delete any background process chain jobs for this DSO. Then try re-loading data into the DSO using BI 7 flow (Datasource -> PSA -> DTP). See if this helps. I mention this because the request might no longer be available in the change log (and PSA).

Thanks

Hi Michael,

Has the issue been resolved? If not, this should help.

"ODS activation failing with a short dump - SAPSQL_EMPTY_TABNAME

(Or)

Version of Change Log (*Transfer structure name*) invalid refer to table RSTSOD

Error while calculating tables for Data Store (DSO technical name)"

Solution:

This is because there is more than one version of a PSA/change log for each DSO.

Program RSAR_RSTSODS_CHANGELOG_VRS part of up gradation activity should delete old change log versions, if unsuccessful will face aforementioned short dump.

Note 1135256 - Change log versioned (repair tool for SAP DEV Support only)

Note 974184 - Error when activating ODS data (RSAR 535)

Thanks
