BI Java

Hi Experts,

We are upgrading to the new GUI and end users are using only BEx Analyzer and Query Designer, we don't have WAD.

BI Java is not installed on our system. Does the new GUI require BI Java if we are using only BEx Analyzer and is any integration to Portals required.

Thank You!

Insights-

To use any web based components, including the 2004s Web Application Designer, Report Designer, or Web Analyzer, you need to have BI-JAVA usage type installed.

You can still use the 2004s BEx Analyzer (Excel) without the BI-JAVA usage type.

It is recommended that you have all 4 usage types installed (AS-ABAP, AS-JAVA, EP, and BI-JAVA) as this is required for full functionality. These can be on a single system or can be 2 separate systems:

1 system:

System (AS-ABAP, AS-JAVA, BI-JAVA, EP)

2 systems:

System (AS-ABAP)

System (AS-JAVA, BI-JAVA, EP)

you can use sapinst to do a BI-JAVA addin install. Both Portal and BI-JAVA are installed on top of AS-JAVA on that stack but BI-JAVA requires EP components as well

Hope it Helps

Hi Chetan

My query is similar. We have upgraded our BW 3.5 system to BI 7.0. however our BW system had no Java stack and while upgrading we did not install any. Now we need a Java stack for BI Java. However our machine which has the new BI 7.0 is not sized for a Java stack. Can i install the BI Java (AS JAVA+ EP) on another host.

What is the procedure ? Should i start sapinst on the remote host ? what are the options i have to chose ?

Can you please give me all details ?
