BI 7.0 transports.

How exactly transports work in BI 7.0.

I have transported data sources in ECC - QA and replicated in BI-QA

Now how do I transport rest of object and in what sequence. I want to collect all in one request.

Do I need to transport data sources from BI Dev to BI QA...

What should be the sequence of transport, if I select in separate request.

Thanks

Lisa

HI,

Collect all the objects in separate requests first and then release in the following sequence.

InfoAreas

InfoObjects, InfoObject Catalog

DataStore Objects

InfoCubes

InfoSources

Extractors on R/3 side

DataSources and Replication

Transformations

InfoPackages

Data Transfer Processes

Process Chains

Hi Lisa,

In addition to the above steps mentioned.....

u need to carry all the dependent objects along with ur data source.

As if u have the new targets, transformations, DTP, Infopackages, Infoobjects which ever is not there at the target system..

U need to transport all the dependent structures to the next level, once the R3 transport went fine and the replication is also done in the BW.

Its always a good practice to maintain a separate request for different objects. So that its easy to analyse the issues in the transport failues.

follow the sequence:

1] Dependent Infobjects - which ever is not there in target systems and being used in ur targets

2] Targets

3] Data sources, Transformations

4] DTP's, Infopackages

5] Process Chains if any..

Thanks

Hope this helps

Another issue is, I replicated generic data sources but I don't see them in the BI. This is I am talking of ECC transport and replication in BI.

I havn't transported BI Dev to BI QA.

Thanks

Normally this is the way to do it:

1. create DS in OLTP

2. replicate metadata in BI for the OLTP source system. The DS should now be available in BI (inactive)

3. activate the DS in BI (change request is created)

4. transport the DS from OLTP-DEV to OLTP-QA

5. replicate metadata in BI-QA

6. transport the DS from BI-DEV to BI-QA

repeat steps 4 to 6 for PRD.

This should work.
