Best solution for displaying information from various scenario (response from a prompt)

Hi,

I need your help in order to know the best solution for displaying information in a report.

My purpose is to display information about contracts. In my database and my universe there is various tables and objects relating to the contracts types (grants, procurements, others). Each type has a specific table and various information. Some fields are present for a type and not for an other.

In the universe there is a dimension "type" for each class allowing to know the type of the contract (grant, procurement, other). For example here some class and objects:

  • class GRANT (type, id contract, title, desc, start year, end year, unit, Award, budget)
  • class PROCUREMENT (type, id contract, title, desc, start year, end year, unit, framework, budget)
  • class OTHER (type, id contract, title, desc, start year, end year, unit, budget)

Thus I would like to display the objects in the report according to the value defined in a prompt ("Which contract type do you want to display ?"). If the user chooses "Grants" all fields on the grants have to be displayed for instance. If he chooses "Grants" and "Others" all fields on the grants and on the others have to be displayed for instance.

Could you tell me if it's possible to display all these data in a same table? According to you, could you tell me if it's better to do one table, several tables or several reports (show and hide the report according to the prompt value ??? Is it possible??).

Hi SEB,

So you wan to display the data depending on prompt values.?

You can do it by multiple blocks and hiding othe other tables depending on users selection.

Hi,

It's up-to the requirement.You can display all mentioned fields in the single table/multiple tables/multiple tabs.

And you only have to choose the format and based on the  type selection display the values then use Cross tab in webi.

Put all (id contract, title, desc, start year, end year, unit) which are common in the all three  in the columns and

Type in the Row and  (Award, budget,framework) under the Type.

Based on the user selection Type will expand in the cross tab with measures.
