Backup for EP

HI all,

I have taken an online backup of the necessary files and folders for j2ee in EP 6.0.When I take an online backup the below files are skipped.

Warning: The file \usr\sap\EP1\JC00\work\sapstart.trc in use - skipped.

Warning: The file \usr\sap\EP1\SCS01\work\sapstart.trc in use - skipped.

Warning: The file \usr\sap\prfclog\dev_coll in use - skipped.

Warning: The file \usr\sap\trex_02\trace\PythonExtension.log in use - skipped.

Warning: The file \usr\sap\trex_02\trace\TrexDaemon.01484.000.trc in use - skipped.

Warning: The file \usr\sap\trex_02\trace\TrexNameServer.01668.000.trc in use - skipped.

Warning: The file \usr\sap\trex_02\trace\TrexQueueServer.03428.000.trc in use - skipped

the below oracle files were also skipped

Warning: The file \oracle\EP1\saparch\cntrl\CNTRLEP1.DBF in use - skipped.

Warning: The file \oracle\EP1\sapdata1\system_1\cntrl\CNTRLEP1.DBF in use - skipped.

Warning: The file \oracle\EP1\sapdata2\temp_1\TEMP.DATA1 in use - skipped.

Warning: The file \oracle\EP1\sapdata2\undo_1\UNDO.DATA1 in use - skipped.

Warning: The file \oracle\EP1\sapdata4\ep1db_1\EP1DB.DATA1 in use - skipped.

CAn any one tell me if these files are important from restoration point of view of EP 6.

Hi Narenda, you need to backup two things

1.- Database: You can do it with a Oracle client with the portal online.

2.- File sistem /usr/* : You need to shotdown the instance.

In my case, I'm backuping the DB (online) all days and the fridays, a full FS backup (offline).

HI Narendra

if u want to whole system backup by copying the folder,

You must stop the portal server after that,

u must stop the oracle service and

u aslo stop the portal related service

sapstart.trc is a trace file

but .dbf was database file u must take a backup of it
