Hi,
We are having the following error in our production system when we try to connect via SAPGUI:
"application server queue overflow
Application server is overloaded currrently; try another application server".
Please note that this error only appears when we start the database after a successfull
offline backup. When the database is started again the SAP system hangs and stops responding. The SAP RECONNECT mechanism is enabled so we do not stop the dialog instances and only the Oracle database is shutdown.
For the immediate remedial we again take the database offline, kill the listener (because it is also not responding) and stop all the dialog instances and then restart them again.
After the successfull system start we find that the parameter rdisp/elem_per_queue has a value set to 2000. we have increased the value to 20000 for this parameter.
Is this is solution fir the problem we are facing, or do we require any other actions.
regards
Ali

Hi,
Whan you system is successfully started, launch transaction SM51, then for each server line :
Select it and in Menu choose Goto --> Server Information --> Queue information
You will get a table showing the maximum queue for each type of process (NOWP means dispatcher).
It will tell you if you queue is big enough.
Best Regards,
Olivier
