Hi database admin gurus,
we plan to use the feature according to SAPs approval in the notes 105047 and 701235.
what did you like regarding the feature, what not?
(i.e. benefits with space management, day-to-day adminstration of compressed tables/partitions).
what problems did arise using the feature?
How do you manage the identification of db tables that are candidates for compression and
how you come around the problem that a reorganization or new creation of the object condemn the compressed data?
some inputs would be helpfull...
we're using Oracle 10.2.0.4 on AIX with BI 7...
bye
yk
I did not use table compression, but used index compression which was easy to implement. You can check SAP note 1109743 - Use of Index Key Compression for Oracle Databases.
I saw a performance improvement after compressing indexes.
