An Afaria Server has missed a periodic check in. Server may be out of operation.

G'day Guys,

I recently installed Afaria 6.6 as well as the Feature Pack 1 and Hotfix 2011_04. As well as this I also installed the IOS provisioning server. It seems though I am missing something or have not installed something properly.

When I try to add a new device ( IOS ) under the clients workspace I get the following error message "Unable to add device. Error accessing database.". Looking a the message log the event "Server missing" is raised every 5 minutes with the following error message "An Afaria Server has missed a periodic check in. Server may be out of operation".

I have checked the server and it is up and running so not entirely sure where else to look.

Has anyone else had a similar experience?

Here are a couple of screen shots of the actual error messages:

Cheers,

Neil.

Hello Neil,

I haven't found any documentation on this issue.

My guess is that it has probably something to do with:

- your database user permissions: for SQL server DB (role db_executor created and assigned to your afaria db user as well as roles db_ddladmin, db_datawriter, db_datareader)

- or the installation mode (standalone vs farm). If you have performed the installation more than once, and did not use a new database, setup is done as a farm expecting a master server. In this case, best is to reinstall.

Regards,

Renaud
