Adaptation projects in Business Application Studio broken suddenly as of Oct 22

Has a new change to Adaptation Projects just been rolled out? I was editing adaptation projects, running them and deploying them as late as yesterday however today none of them are working. The old Adaptation Project Preview and Visual Editor and deploy options are missing from the menu for all of my projects.

I don't know if it is relevant but I tried creating a new adaptation project from template but I am unable to select any SAP UI5 version except the latest and it gives a message saying the project will not be usable on my system:

I am also facing this issue all of sudden from yesterday. Mostly, some upgrade might have caused during the weekend related to BAS. I am able to enable the preview option by adding the SAPUI5 Adaptation Project Plugin to my workspace. But the issue is, controller extension changes are not reflecting.

Hi Peter, Thanks for the post. I am also experiencing this. From past 3 days somehow my controller extension stopped working and quite a lot of weird issues and today like you pointed out the UI5 version is freezed to latest only. And Visual editor is removed and replaced by Adaptation editor. Thanks for raising support ticket. Do update on any response from SAP BAS Team. Hope you assigned to the CA-UI5 BAS Team.

Hi @Venkatesh_K, @tejasChouhan, please see my comment (accepted solution). I can't share my ui5.yaml file as it is specific to the project I used as an example but perhaps you can create a new adaptation project and make adjustments to your existing ui5.yaml file based on the results.

Hi,

there is a new tool for visually editing Adaptation Project and it is called Adaptation Editor - you should be able to see its option using the context menu over the project files and folders. The situation described with the screenshot is not something new and this detection of the system UI5 version has been like this since at least an year - when the UI5 version cannot be detected from the base system, the generator is offering you just the latest one for selection. Later on, if you want, you can change the UI5 version used for the preview in the Visual Editor before and now the Adaptation Editor using the ui5.yaml file, and this is described in the documentation in the first tip in this link: https://help.sap.com/docs/SAP_FIORI_tools/17d50220bcd848aa854c9c182d65b699/9c1e7b438d2f48038d8870c55...

There are two main options to address the issue: either generate the entire project again or make adjustments to the ui5.yaml file to align with it as a workaround.
