Accessing office documents twice

Former Member

Hi all,

I'm having trouble accessing office documents in the KM.

When I access a document, it is saved in my local cache, and when I close that document and try to access it again, I get a "This page cannot be displayed" error.

If I delete that document from my local cache, I can access it again.

I'm using IE6 SP1 and MS Office 2003 SP1. My EP and KMC version is 6 SP11p3.

Thanks,

Amit

Hi Amit,

I cannot reproduce on SP12, IE6 SP2, http. Do you use https or http? Maybe you should try to update IE6 first.

Hope it helps

Hi Detlev,

I'm using http.

The Target URL of the document is longer than 260 characters and it contains Hebrew characters.

If the target url is shorter than 260 characters, I can access the document more than once.

Hi Amit,

see MS note http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;EN-US;Q276436

This is at least similar to the behaviour you describe, even if only IE5 should be applied. Anyhow, sounds like an IE bug, so may first suggestion holds, try to update to IE6 SP2 and if the behaviour does not change, report this bug to MS.

Hope it helps

Detlev,

Which OS on client computer did you use when had trying to reproduce IE error?

On the Microsoft site there are no any IE6 SP2. Where did you obtain it?

Thank you and best regards,

Sergey

Hi Michail,

it was Windows XP SP2. I just checked and it seems that IE6 SP2 comes integrated with XP SP2 (or at least as an IE update only accessible under XP SP2).

Hope it helps
