I've seen this error when the Universe connection didn't have permission to the Universe or a grant was missing on a oracle view used by the report.

This is a very generic error, I know I've seen it for different reasons usually related to permissions.

Sometimes you can view the sql of the report and run it yourself in oracle, but it will need to be cleaned up so that the report runs. Try to run it by segments this helps give you a better error.

I would first see if this error only occurs for certain reports that use the same universe. If that's the case then go into the CMC and make sure the Universe connection has rights to the universe.

I tried with Enterprise authentication as Administrator, but still getting same error. I created one user made him member of Administrator group and grant him all rights explicitly but no success.

I check universe and universe connection thoroughly and provided all rights but no success

Any other idea

Thanks for reply.

I ran through it a couple of days ago. In my environment, the .odbc.ini file was missing the following lines:

[ODBC]

UNICODE=UTF-8

Trace=0

TraceFile=/tmp/odbctrace.out

Once added, everything worked like a charm

When you go into InfoView and create a new Web document and you select the universe...is it just one particular universe giving you the error or is it all the universes? Also, look at the report giving the error...in InfoView, select report > Modify > When report opens > Cancel (If you have a prompts window appear) > Make sure you can see the report detail tabs on the left side of the report > Click on "Edit Query" > Select the "Properties" tab > Make a note of the Universe the report is using. Go into CMC> Universes > Find your the universe in question, note the name of the connection > Go to Universe Connections > Check the Rights, in our case we have "View Objects" and "Data Access" Explicitly Granted.

If you have a Webi report that works correctly compare the Universe/ Universe Connection rights and try to imitate the same rights for the Universe/ Universe Connection in question.

Hi Suraj,

I had this before.

Delete the DSN connection and recreate it. Strange, but it worked.

Hope this helps.

does account you used on your SIA has access on the database as well?

make sure the account you used to run the SIA has DB access.
