I am completly new in unification technologies so I have done all things decribed in the "1-2-3 Drag&Relate" weblog. Everything was fine but when I try the D&R example and began to drag this icon next to the id (table "Stores") in order to relate it into the "Sales" table, nothing is happening.
What am I doing wrong? (by the way, we are on EP 6.0, Stack 10)

Hello,
Thanks for all your answers. Unfortunately, i have done everything according to your suggestions - user permissions, DQE, BOs relation, but it simply doesn't work. I can load the My Pubs Stores iView, and it's displaying everything OK, also i see on the left menu a "Drag and Relate Target" , which is the My Pubs Sales iView (With a green square as well), I also see in the My Pubs Stores iView the green arrows in the Store ID column, but whenever I try to drag some drag&relate icon to the Drag and Relate target iView on the left, nothing happens, i mean nothing pops up or indicates that the target has received the drag&relate URL. What can be the issue, if nothing of the previously proposed causes ?
P.S: The DQE runs perfectly O.K, i can browse in the metatada loader, and i can also create Query iViews and select object properties in the JDBC Systems.
just to mention, my portal installation is SP9, so it can't be an issue with the versioning as well.
Thank you.
Regards,
Angel

Hi,
I have the same problem - i have setup everything according to the tutorial, and i can open the Drag & Relate Source (the Stores iView), and i can also see the green squares with an arrow in the "Store ID" column, but when I drag some of the icons to the Drag & Relate Target (also given with a green square, which means it's drag&relate enabled target), nothing happens !! Do you have any idea where the problem is? Thank you very much in advance.
P.S: when i point to the drag & relate icon in the source "store ID column" , i can also see the correct URL in the status bar of the browser, i.e something like: hrnp://0:0/myMSSQL/dbo.stores/stor_id/8042. So, I don't really know what could have went wrong !?

Angel

Hi,
We do not have enough details to find the exact problem, but let's start with the common possible problems:
1. in order to avoid permissions problem, let's start working when the End-User is asigned to the Super Amdin Role. Like this we will make sure we don't have any permissions problems (if we do have, we will handle them later on...)
2. Please login the Visual Admin Tool, browse to the Application server and make sure the DQE service is running. if not, this is the problem.
3. Enter again the DQE user and Password (in the system properties) and save the system.
4. Remove the System Alias and save the system. Afterwards, add again (back) the same alias to the system.
Please check if any of these actions solved the problem. if not, please post agian a meesage and we will try again...

Hi Aviad,
to your suggestions:
1. I have assign all unification applications to the super admin role so there should be no permission problems. (I have the super admin role at myself so it's no problem to test that)
2. DQE service is running
3. + 4. Have done it again.
All in all nothing changed. Unification still does not work. By the way, this portal installation is very new; I have installed SR1 (Stack 9) directly and updated it to Stack 10 in order to test unification...

Hi,
Did you define the relation between the two business object??
Verify that the relation is define, as describe in the 1-2-3 D&R.
Import the relevant Business Objects. Right click on the Business Objects folder, select Import Business Objects, browse into your system (the MyPubs system) and import the sales and stores objects.
Now, let's define the relation between the stores BO and the sales BO. Go to: Content Administration -> Unification; add the stores BO as source and the sales BO as target. Edit this relation in order to set the relation condition to: Alias_1.stor_id=Alias_2.stor_id (make sure the condition appears in the test box).

Simon
Simon,
I have everything done like described in the 1-2-3 D&R. So what you have told me is nothing new for me. Perhaps it could be that from installing SR1 from scratch there are some installation errors in using Unification? For example, some collaboration functions also didn't work at once therefore I had to patch up to Stack 10 and to change something in role permissions. Well, but watching the trace file there are no special errors for unification.

I will try to help you,
first of all you need to know that you can not make drag&related between iViews that are in the TLN. So check that the both iViews that are you working on are in the DTN.
Second, check the following permission for the end user that has assigned the role:
System permission,
Business Object permission
User Mapping
Verify that you see aside of the iView a green square (that means that is a D&R iView) if not, check in the iView properties that under Drag&Relate category the value of drag & relate target is true and in Main object you c the correct bussiness object.
Let me know if it help you,
Simon

Hi Simon,
first, what do you mean with TLN or DTN? (in my case I have created two query iViews in order to test D&R)
Secondly, the permissions should be right. I have the super_admin role and have assign the sa user as DQE user and as user mapping user in the jdbc system.
I also have a green square left to the iView you described. On the right side, I see my sql source entries with a following green square and black arrow on which I try to drag these entries in that target iView but it don't work. (I have also set drag&relate target to both iViews to true and have both imported in the relevant Business Objects.) Do you have other ideas?

Frank
