Hi,
I've got a question about the possible values of 0FIAA_SIM in the 0FI_AA_12 datasource. I understand a value of ' ' is a posted value, an 'X' is a simulated value, but am unsure about the records that come through with an 'N' in this field.
In our environment, we see 'N' records coming through for the latest period with posted values. As expected the values are showing as 'posted' for these records in AW01n. Previous posted periods have the expected ' ' value in 0FIAA_SIM.
This suggests that 'N' signifies records that have most recently had their simulated values overwritten with actual (posted) values but despite searching, I've not been able to get a definitive definition.
Does anyone have any information about this?
Hi
The field `0FIAA_SIM` in the `0FI_AA_12` datasource of SAP BW (Business Warehouse) typically indicates the status of values in Asset Accounting data. Here's an explanation of the possible values and their meanings:
1. Blank (' '): This usually signifies that the values are actual posted values. In Asset Accounting, this would mean that the transaction has been posted and the values are final.
2. 'X': This indicates simulated values. Simulated values are often used for forecasting or planning purposes where actual postings have not yet occurred, but projected values are being used.
3. 'N': This value is less common and its interpretation can vary depending on the context and specific implementation. Based on your observation:
- In your environment, 'N' records appear for the latest period with posted values in `AW01n`.
- These records show as 'posted' in `AW01n`, which suggests that despite having 'N' in `0FIAA_SIM`, the values are treated as final (posted).
Possible Interpretation of 'N':
- Overwritten Simulated Values: As you mentioned, 'N' could indicate that simulated values were initially present but were subsequently overwritten by actual posted values in the latest period. This implies that the system has flagged these records to indicate a transition from simulated to posted status.
- Realignment or Adjustment: Another possibility is that 'N' could denote a realignment or adjustment process where originally simulated values are adjusted or aligned with actual posted values, marking them as final in the process.
- System-Specific Implementation: Since the exact meaning of 'N' can vary depending on how your system and data model are configured, it's essential to consult with your SAP system administrator or refer to specific documentation or SAP Notes related to your SAP version and module (Asset Accounting).
Recommendations:
1. Consult SAP Documentation: Look for SAP Notes or official documentation related to Asset Accounting (FI-AA) or BW datasources (`0FI_AA_12`) that explicitly define the possible values of `0FIAA_SIM`.
2. Review Data Model: Understand how `0FIAA_SIM` is integrated into your data model and what business rules or processes are applied to interpret these values.
3. Engage SAP Support: If uncertain, reach out to SAP Support or consult with a SAP consultant who specializes in Asset Accounting to clarify the specific meaning of 'N' in your context.
By understanding the exact meaning of 'N' in `0FIAA_SIM` and its implications in your system, you can ensure accurate interpretation and use of Asset Accounting data within SAP BW.

Hello Uma,
We have a requirement to mimic S_ALR_87012936 for future years, for example if the report date is 12/31/2028 for a sample company code, this generates simulated depreciation for current year (2024), next (2025), 2026, 2027, 2028 in S4. Can this requirement be satisfied with the help of 0FI_AA_12 extractor via Bex query ?( i see field which is Posted/Simulated value ), but in the periods i can only see until 12, current year 2024.
Thanks,
Karthik
