SAP Analytics Cloud brings together analytics and planning with unique integration to SAP applications and seamless access to heterogenous data sources. It helps everyone in your organization make decisions without doubt with trusted insights and integrated plans.

This blog post introduces the features of the SAP Analytics Cloud 2023.12 release available for SAP Analytics Cloud FastTrack customers. For SAP Analytics Cloud Quarterly Release Cycle (QRC) customers, this release and its features will be available as part of the QRC Q3 2023 release. View the QRC release schedule here.

System Administration and Technical Requirements

Although not required, you may upgrade to the latest SAP Analytics Cloud agent version 1.0.377 to take advantage of all data acquisition types.

The agent’s minimum version remains at 1.0.75, with the following exceptions:

  • Version 1.0.99 for SAP ERP/SQL Database

  • Version 1.0.365 for SAP universe (UNX). The SAP Analytics Cloud agent requires additional setup steps, for more details see SAP Note 3262098

  • Version 1.0.353 for SAP Business Warehouse (BW)

  • Version 1.0.235 for SAP HANA View

  • Version 1.0.248 for File Server

For more information, see System Requirements and Technical Prerequisites.

Regarding supported features and required updates for the integration of SAP BW with SAP Analytics Cloud, refer to SAP Note 2541557 for further details.

Regarding supported features and required updates for live universe access through SAP BusinessObjects Live Data Connect with SAP Analytics Cloud, refer to SAP Note 2771921 for further details.

Please download the latest version of the Simple Deployment Kit from Service Marketplace.

  • Note: To avoid downloading older versions and potentially exposing users to a vulnerable bundling of the Cloud Connector with SAPJVM, or Apache Tomcat, only the three latest versions of the kits are available to download.

For Cloud agent version change management details, refer to SAP Note 3264839.

Release Highlights

Data Integration

Data Export API – Currency Rates

The Data Export Service now allows users to export currency data from any currency table in an SAP Analytics Cloud tenant to remote systems, enabling the ability to keep currency data in sync. Pagination and OData filters are supported and is fully CDI compliant, allowing for direct integration with other systems such as SAP HANA, SAP BW, and SAP S/4HANA. OAuth 2 & 3 legged are supported. (SAP Road Map Explorer)

For more details, see the Data Export Service documentation.

Enterprise Planning

Data Actions – Automated Partial Publish

When setting up a data action planning trigger, configuring a data action step in multi actions, or adding a data action to be scheduled in the calendar, users now have the option to decide how to publish data. Users can choose to automatically publish changes and have the publish fail if there are any restrictions, or choose to automatically publish changes and discard any data that is affected by restrictions. (SAP Road Map Explorer)

The data action trigger has been enhanced and now includes the following publish options:

  • Do not publish

    • The version remains unpublished and the user has the option to publish changes manually

  • Publish and fail if there are warnings

    • Changes are published but if data locks or other restrictions apply to the data region, the publish fails and data remains unpublished (option to publish the changes manually)

  • Public and ignore warnings

    • All changes that are not impacted by data locks or other restrictions are automatically published, with data impacted by locks or other restrictions discarded

Note: Automated publishing only applies to public versions. Publishing of explicit private versions is at the discretion of the user.

Microsoft Office Integration

New custom function: SAP.GETTABLESTATUS

Use new custom formula, SAP.GETTABLESTATUS to retrieve the status ("refreshed" or "need to be refreshed") of the data contained in the table.

SAP.GETTABLESTATUS parameters:

  • One or more tables

  • Display options (0 = TableID/StatusID, 1 = StatusID, 2 = StatusID/StatusText, 3 = TableID/StatusText, 4 = TableID/StatusID/StatusText)

This feature is available as of May 31st, 2023.

New custom function: SAP.SETDATA

Use new custom formula, SAP.SETDATA to define and execute data action parameters:

  • Retrieve data action parameters defined on a model displayed in Microsoft Excel

  • Select a data action parameter definition and launch it from a Microsoft Excel workbook

SAP.SETDATA parameters (ID only):

  • TableID

  • Cell for picking value

  • {DimensionID, ValueID}*

SAP.SETDATA is similar to the SAP.GETDATA function, but for planning. This means users can specify the tuple exactly and specify a cell where you pick the planning value to write on the backend.

This feature is available as of May 31st, 2023.

User Collaboration

Support for CSV formatting in story scheduling

When scheduling a publication, users now have an option to select widgets within a story that can be exported in a CSV file type and delivered to the required destination. Within one publication, users will be able to select up to five (5) widgets to export data and deliver an email in the zip format. This is available for stories in the Optimized Story Experience.
