Data Integration

Live SAP BW – Support for Data Point Commenting

In tables built on SAP BW or SAP BPC live connection models, you can now add data point comments. If a data point has a comment it will be visualized by a comment indicator in the corresponding cell in the table. In order to read or change the comment the user has to click on the indicator. Alternatively, comments can be visualized in a separate column in the table. Comments can not be changed directly in the table but from the same popup as in the case of the comment indicator. The popup also shows the (BW-) user that has last modified the comment and a time stamp. A history of all changes done on a comment is also available.

The comments are stored in BW in so-called document stores and the feature has to be enabled in the query. The comments are also shared with Analysis for Office. The feature is available for BW 7.50 on Hana and BW/4HANA.

Enterprise Planning

Planning Process - Quality Improvements on Progress / Status Aggregation

There are the following changes for processes:

  • Processes with assignees now receive their statuses and progress from their assignees.

  • The status and progress of processes without assignees are defined by their child events. Canceled child events are excluded from the status and progress aggregation.

  • When reopening a parent process that has an assignee, the owner can decide to reopen the process only, or the process and its child events.

  • The statuses “Accomplished” and “Partially Accomplished” are no longer in use. To align between manual and automatic events, the statuses “Successful” and “Partially Successful” are used instead.

For details, see Calendar Processes: Aggregation of Status and Progress.

Planning Process - Notify Users About Concurrent Editing

Owners of calendar events are now notified if an event is being concurrently updated by another owner, or if mass edit changes are being made through the bulk edit feature. The warning message will appear in the header of the event details panel, and the notified owner can refresh the details panel directly from the message, and proceed with their work once the message disappears.

Support Flexible Time for Table Commenting

With this release, table commenting, including data point and dimension commenting is now supported for models which have enabled flexible time dimensions on the new stack.

One limitation to mention is that dimension commenting is not supported when setting a filter using member navigation (dynamic range filter, or fixed filter with “Start” or “End” etc.) and the filtered dimension is defined in the formula. For example, in an optimized design experience story or in view mode of an optimized view mode story, a dynamic filter range is set on a user-managed time dimension defined in the dimension comment formula. Additionally, if a story in the non-optimized (classic) experience that includes such a filter is converted to one in the optimized story experience, dimension comments will also become unavailable.

We announced the support of Flexible Time Dimensions in the New Model Type in a previous release. Learn more details here.

Multi Actions: UX Improvement - Create Multi Actions Parameter

When working with multi actions, users can now add and create parameters by choosing the { } (Available Parameters) icon in the designer panel and selecting “Create Parameter” from the dropdown menu. This addition of parameter creation provides users with a more intuitive and convenient way to create and select parameters.
