They are all SAP CodeJammers! Since its inception last year, we have hosted 50 SAP CodeJams and put in a combined total of over 7,500 hours of coding worldwide. It’s an impressive achievement – one that reflects the passion and interest from developers to continue to learn and expand their skills on SAP’s technology and platforms.
But, what is SAP CodeJam?
craig.cmehil, an SAP Developer, Mentor and Evangelist, came up with this concept earlier in 2012. His idea involved reaching out and engaging with developers to give them a taste and a chance to get hands-on experience with new SAP technologies while mingling and networking with SAP experts and fellow developers. Named SAP CodeJam, the initial concept became a 5 to 6 hours developer to developer, hands-on coding and networking event where participants get to share their knowledge and collaboratively develop with SAP technologies, platforms and tools in a fun and casual environment.
It’s been a remarkable experience for developers as well as for our SAP development experts thus far. Check out what participants are saying:
“Ian and Chris were extremely knowledgeable and open. It was very good to talk to them about the technology and developments. It was also really good for me to meet some non-SAP developers (I'm ABAP/SAP) and hear what sort of development they had been doing.” – Developer in London
“Most like: The willingness of SAP-experts to answer any questions. Pizza =)” – Developer in Moscow
“Great atmosphere, real technical hands-on event, not the product-placement/marketing presentation.” – Developer in Oslo
“Instructions were clear and simple. The staff was very helpful and easy to approach.” – Developer in Singapore
“The fact that the event was given by an instructor that actually worked with the product and knew what was going on. This helps as most of the participants were developers themselves and it creates a good learning environment.” – Developer in Cape Town
“What I like the most is the atmosphere of the event and the exchange of ideas and experiences.” – Developer in Buenos Aires
As a developer, you can request an SAP CodeJam to take place in your city! Just check with your friends to see if they are interested, select a topic (e.g. SAP HANA, SAP HANA Cloud, SAP Mobile, etc.), select a date (2 options) and submit a request to sapcodejam@sap.com. Don’t forget to include your name and a brief explanation as to why you want to host a CodeJam.
