Good news! We've listened to your feedback and took the first steps to re-work the help content in the SAP Cloud Platform cockpit. If you've recently used the cockpit, you may have already noticed that it now has a brand new in-app help ready to assist you.
Why change?
The previous cockpit in-app help was not directly linked to the UI. You therefore had to scroll through a lot of general text, that often described all the possible UI elements which could be visible on that screen. Since there was no way for it to know which of those elements you actually saw, it provided you with help for every possibility, just in case.
This was of course useful, since it ensured that everyone had the information they needed. However, it also made it tedious to use sometimes, since you had to scroll through a lot of information to find the part you were actually interested in.
What's special about the Web Assistant?
The Web Assistant is directly linked to the UI - this means that if there is a specific element you have a question about, you don't have to skim through the entire page help to find the information you need. Instead, you simply click on the hotspot over that element to see the information related to it. So fast and easy!
The Web Assistant also provides the possibility of having Guided Tours, which help you navigate through the cockpit and complete different tasks. Our first Guided Tour can be started from the Trial Home, give it a go and let us know what you think!
So how do I use the Web Assistant?
It's really simple! You just click on help icon in the header bar to enable Web Assistant. To get help for a specific UI element, you can either choose the hotspot linked to it or click on one of the tiles in the carousel (shown on the right hand-side of the screen).
At the top of the carousel, you also have the option to search through the help available on a page - this is particularly useful for complex screens, where there are a lot of help tiles.
If you want to disable the Web Assistant overlay, simply click on the help icon once again.
Tell us what you think!
We would love to hear your thoughts about this, in order to continue to improve your cockpit experience! So post a comment under this blog post or provide feedback in the cockpit directly, and let us know what you like about the new Web Assistant and what we can do better.
