The starting point for everyone working with UI5 is the Demo Kit App. It is a comprehensive overview of the SAPUI5 framework.

It was built with old libraries – sap.ui.commons and sap.ui.ux3, which are now deprecated. As we are working on front-end technologies, we wanted our SDK to represent us as best as possible. That’s why we sat down and created a new concept for our Demo Kit. It should become responsive, with modern look and feel, better usability, an improved search and a lot more minor improvements compared to our old Demo Kit. We completely overhauled it using the latest SAPUI5 control libraries to showcase the innovative UI5 framework!

The app utilizes the great user experience of Fiori for tools visual language and concepts. That’s why many new Fiori controls like Block LayoutTool HeaderObject PageDynamic Page and Tree were included.

In the new Demo Kit, you can find these sections:

  • Landing Page with Getting Started information.

  • Documentation with improved content structure of the UI5 developer guide and tutorials.

  • API Reference, which contains JavaScript documentation for the framework and control API, including detailed information about the corresponding properties, aggregations, associations, events, and methods.

  • Samples, which provides control samples of almost every control including a new code editor and functionality to download any code snippets you may need. Note: Samples section is the former Explored app and is now fully integrated in the Demo Kit.

  • Demo Apps, which showcase actual samples with fresh designs. In addition, you can also find fancy tools like Icon Explorer and Theme Parameter Toolbox.

Sometimes it’s the little things that can make a big difference. The global search has been significantly improved based on the user feedback we have received. Results are now displayed in categories using the Object Page responsive design. As an added bonus, the results from the samples-section are also displayed, which was not possible with the old Demo Kit because the Explored app was a decoupled application.
