Introduction
With our SAP Signavio Plug and Gain Approach, you can reduce the time needed to thoroughly prepare your transformation from months to just hours, improve the deployment quality, and provide benefits to the business. It lets you combine the capabilities of SAP Signavio Process Insights and SAP Signavio Process Intelligence.
In this blogpost, we will provide you with a technical guide on how to establish a connection between SAP Signavio Process Insights and SAP Signavio Process Intelligence and how to prepare the initial set-up of your Process Landscape Analysis by the Plug and Gain Delivery Team.

1. Before you start: Meet the prerequisites
Relevant Documentation:
We do recommend to read our blogpost General Guide: Getting started with the SAP Signavio Plug and Gain approach to get an overview of the overall preparation and onboarding process as well as relevant documentations in order to utilize the SAP Signavio Plug and Gain approach (PnG). Please make sure you meet the prerequisites before you continue.
If all requirements are met, you can continue with section 2 Establish a connection between SAP Signavio Process Insights and SAP Signavio Process Intelligence.
2. Establish a connection between SAP Signavio Process Insights and SAP Signavio Process Intelligence
Relevant Documentation:
In the following steps, we will guide you on how to set-up the SAP Signavio Process Insights Connector in order to establish a connection between SAP Signavio Process Insights and SAP Signavio Process Intelligence.
2.1 Create a Service Instance in the SAP Business Technology Platform Cockpit
On the SAP Business Technology Platform (BTP), you have to set up the Process Insights api-plan instance in the same subaccount where the standard SAP Signavio Process Insights is set up and running. This instance contains the needed credentials for the SAP Signavio Process Insights Connector.
In order to do that, navigate to the respective subaccount. In the subaccount, click on Create, select SAP Signavio Process Insights under Service, and select the api-plan under Plan. Then, proceed to create the selected instance. [Creating a Service Instance | SAP Help Portal]
2.2 Create a Service Key in the SAP Business Technology Platform Cockpit
Once the instance is added to the subaccount, click Create Service Key to generate the needed credentials. [Creating a Service Key | SAP Help Portal]
Once the service key is generated, you are ready to proceed with the next section Creation new Connections in SAP Signavio Process Intelligence.
In case that the api-plan is not showing up in the Plan-dropdown while you want to create an Instance, please assign the api-plan entitlement to the subaccount in the Entity Assignment of the BTP. In the Entity Assignment, you have to select the Directory or subaccount where the Standard Process Insights Application is running.
Then, you have to select the api-plan by searching for the SAP Signavio Process Insights service and click Add 1 Service Plan.
If the Entitlement has been assigned to the Directory first, you have to repeat this step now to assign the Entitlement to the right underlying subaccount now. Once the Entitlement is assigned to the subaccount, you can create the Instance in the subaccount and generate the service key as described above.
2.3 Create new connections to SAP Signavio Process Insights in SAP Signavio Process Intelligence
You can create a connection for the Process Landscape Analysis and each Value Accelerator that you intend to use. Depending on which PnG Value Accelerator you want to set up, you have to repeat this step. One connection needs to be created for each PnG Value Accelerator you want to use. You can create individual connections for any or all the Value Accelerators listed under Scope of Value Accelerators in SAP Signavio Process Intelligence. For example, if you want to only set up the Value Accelerator for Process Landscape Analysis, it is sufficient to set-up one connection for this. If you want to conduct deep-dive analysis of specific E2E processes such as Source to Pay, this would require an additional connection. If you want to utilize all PnG Value Accelerators, it is required to set up eight different connections, following the instructions below.
To set up the SAP Signavio Process Insights connection within SAP Signavio Process Intelligence, please open Process Intelligence in your Signavio workspace and navigate to Connections.
Within the Connections-Menu, click Create on the top-right, enter the connection name (e.g. Source to Pay, depending on the content you want to set up), navigate to SAP Signavio under the connection type and select the SAP Signavio Process Insights connection to create.
Within the connection you have just created, there are some details to be provided in order to complete the setup. This is needed to establish the connection to the Process Insights tenant.
To fill this information, you now need to open the service key that you have generated in section 2.2 Creating a Service Key in the SAP Business Technology Platform Cockpit.
Then, proceed to fill out the Configuration details within the connection. The Service Root: the service root needs to be filled out in the following format: <root-URL>/api/<service>/<v1>/
Depending on the server region that your Process Insights tenant is hosted in, and the respective Service you want to set up, you have to adjust these details. You can find a detailed description in our documentation. [Service Root with Region Information - PnG | SAP Help Portal] The chosen Service defines which content this connection should address. If you want to set up the Source to Pay Value Accelerator, you need to specify “SourcingAndProcurementService” in the <service>-part of the Service Root.
Note: For the landscapes eu10 and eu20, there is a little exception here:
The OAuth Access Token URL: this is the url in the service key, with appended /oauth/token. Copy the url from your service key and append /oauth/token.
Please specify the currency that the PnG data should be converted into, by using the three-digit currency codes:
All details have been provided and the connection can be saved. Please repeat these steps for every Value Accelerator that you want to set up. You can precisely repeat the steps and provide the same credentials, with the only difference being that the <service> in the Service Root differs.
3. Prepare for the content delivery by the Plug and Gain Delivery team
Relevant Documentation:
Once you have set up all the connections, you can prepare to request the initial set-up of your Process Landscape Analysis by our PnG Delivery team at SAP Signavio. This requires the team to have access to your workspace while they are setting it up. Please follow the next steps to grant the PnG Delivery team access to your workspace.
3.1 Grant access to SAP Signavio Process Insights in the SAP Business Technology Platform Cockpit
Navigate to the BTP Cockpit and to the subaccount where the Process Insights application is running. In the Users section, click Create to add the following users from our PnG Delivery team [SAP Note 3529579 - Required information for Plug and Gain delivery by SAP]:
Once added, please assign the users the role collection SAP Signavio Process Insights Administrator to provide reading access to the content of the tenant. You can to that by clicking on the user in the user list, scrolling to Role Collections, clicking on the three dots and selecting Assign Role Collection. You can then select the preconfigured role collection SAP Signavio Process Insights Administrator.
Now, the users are added to the SAP Signavio Process Insights Tenant.
3.2 Grant access to your SAP Signavio Workspace
To add the technical user to your Signavio workspace, please navigate to your Signavio workspace and access the User Management.
Navigate to Invites, type signavio-plug-and-gain-delivery@sap.com, assign the Enterprise Plus Edition-License, assign the Administration user group (or any other group you have configured to have the administration access) and send the invite. [User Administration, Authentication, and Authorization | SAP Help Portal]
3.3 Provide required information
At this point, the user management is done and we can proceed to fill out the form attached to SAP Note 3529579.
6. Please select if your Signavio workspace has SSO (Single-Sign-On) enabled or not. If it has, you access the workspace under a specific link directly. If it is not enabled, you access your workspace via one of the links provided above and log in regularly to your Signavio account.
Once the document is filled out, you can return to the blogpost General Guide: Getting started with the SAP Signavio Plug and Gain approach section 3 Submit the delivery request to our Plug and Gain Delivery team and request the content setup.
