When I navigated to the Maintenance Planner for SAP Solution Manager system installation, finding the Plan a New System tile felt like getting an exact match from a search engine. You know the feeling. It’s a brief eyebrow-raising satisfaction – multiplied after a particularly complicated or weird search. How about that? An institute in France actually studied whether the dog flea or the cat flea jumps higher. (Spoiler alert: It’s the dog flea!)

Plan a New System simplifies the process to . . . plan a new system. Makes sense, right? Before, you needed to apply the current Support Package Stack (SPS) after completing SAP Solution Manager installation. Now, you can install your SAP Solution Manager 7.2 directly on the target SPS level, like our latest SPS 07. That's the simple version. For more detailed info, check out our Master Guide and Installation Guides.

Simple Steps to Plan a New System using the Maintenance Planner

  1. Choose system type ABAP.

  2. Select Install an SAP SOLUTION MANAGER system.

  3. Download the resulting SPS configuration files.

  4. Download the installation media.

  5. Run the installer for SAP Solution Manager 7.2 ABAP system as follows:
    sapinst SAPINST_STACK_XML=<stack configuration file>

Plan your new SAP Solution Manager 7.2 Java system, including the required SPS level:
