ASUG Session 2706: Road Mapping the Suite of Sustainability Solutions for 3M | 12:30 p.m. - 1:30 p.m | S329 | As part of a global implementation of SAP at 3M, the various EHS organizations came together to set a vision for SAP EHS at 3M and to develop a roadmap for business transformation enabled by SAP. The vision was based on a distillation of the EHS relevant data, processes, and systems presently in play at 3M, down to a family of approximately 250 sub-processes (L5s). Appropriate solutions were identified through an assessment of the gap/fit between the L5s and the solution suite, and this was further refined through an assessment of the opportunity for technology enablement and the magnitude of the present or anticipated effort. Appropriate solutions were then prioritized through an assessment of intrinsic and extrinsic dependencies, the readiness of the solution to meet 3M’s needs, and the total cost of implementation. Project deliverables are a strong recommendation to executive leadership as to the solutions that should be implemented over the next two years, a less confident recommendation regarding those that should be slated for years three through six, and a fuzzy recommendation regarding those that could or should officially be tagged as "wait and see" . The project is well into the second of three phases and is scheduled to present recommendations to executive leadership in late January. |

ASUG Session 4109: Learn How Chemtura Ensures that SAP helps to limit its Product Compliance Communication Costs | 4:15 p.m. - 5:15 p.m. | S320C | Chemtura was part of a co-innovation project at SAP, investigating how to deal with upcoming challenges regarding product and substance compliance requirements. Participating in the co-innovation project, Chemtura was able to influence the way SAP will handle requirements. The project dealt with upcoming major supply chain communication challenges regarding exposure scenarios with respect to the REACH (Restriction, Evaluation, Authorization of Chemicals) regulation in Europe and how to ensure the communication, analysis, onboarding, and re-use of received data can be done smart and comfortably at low costs. Without support and a smart process, compliance would be close to being impossible and would lead to a massive cost increase. During the co-innovation, among other companies, Chemtura and SAP designed an extremly valuable process support allowing to manage the topic at lowest costs. The project did not only addressed Chemtura’ s challenges and concerns, but changed it’s thinking. Learn how SAP ensured it builds desirable products and sticks to the customer’s needs by using the design thinking methodology. |
