What is #SAPChat?

    Have you heard of #SAPChat? If not, now is the perfect time to join-in. #SAPChat is an opportunity for Twitterers from all around (not just those within the SAP ecosystem) to discuss different topics like mobility, SAP HANA, business analytics/intelligence & cloud computing. Heck, even SAP CIO Oliver Bussmann joined us for an exclusive #SAPChat Each month two to three industry specialists & subject matter experts join us for an hour on Twitter to take your questions, live.

     When Bill Robb and I originally envisioned the #SAPChat program, our number one goal was to maintain a certain level of objectivity. In other words, we’re not just here to discuss SAP Software and how awesome it is (even though we all know how awesome it is), but all things that are important & relevant to the topic at hand. More importantly, we wanted to ensure that you, our users, get the best possible answers to your questions.

     To ensure that we remain impartial, we always have a third party (non-SAP) specialist present as a guest to complement the SAP host(s). There are certain questions that non-SAP employees may answer differently than those who are a part of the company, so a third party specialist helps us cover all of our bases. Previous guests like Alys Woodward (@AlysWoodward, IDC Inc), Cindi Howson (@BI_Scorecard) or Philippe Winthrop (@Biz_Mobility) have provided a major benefit to our participants with their valuable, honest insight. Because they aren’t obligated to only say “nice things” about SAP, they feel no reservations in answering tough questions from our users candidly.

How to Join a #SAPChat

Typically #SAPChat’s take place during the last week of the month, and can be accessed in a few different ways;

  1. The Obvious Way: Follow #SAPChat on Twitter (save it as a stream in HootSuite or TweetDeck to make things easier). To join, just make sure you append the #SAPChat hashtag to your tweets, otherwise they get lost!
  2. The Easy Way: Visit http://spr.ly/SAPChat - You can set controls for the refresh speed and reply & retweet all from one interface. You also don’t have to worry about appending #SAPChat on to the end of your tweet, as this interface does it automatically.

When Does the Next #SAPChat Take Place?

          Our next #SAPChat will be Friday, March 30th, 2012 at Noon EST with #SAPChat vets Eric Lai & Philippe Winthrop. We’ll be discussing all things tablets and how they’ll effect the mobile business landscape. Click the link below to add it to your calendar and please don’t hesitate to join in.
