We are thrilled to announce the latest version of the SAP Warehouse Operator mobile app.

But before I proceed, I would like to take time and talk a bit about the journey so far.

After releasing the app last year, we spent a great deal of time engaging with our customers, partners, and industry experts and observed them use our product in their environments. When you set out to fundamentally rethink and redefine the status quo, it is important to feel the positive vibes and see the excitement in the eyes of your key stakeholders.

That’s precisely what we experienced. The exercise confirmed our beliefs, assumptions and reaffirmed that we are on the right track. I am mainly speaking about -

  • How the churn in warehouses is changing the demographics by bringing in more smartphone tethered population into it.

  • How the familiarity of consumer-grade phones with users can significantly uplift their usage experience.

  • How the innovations and versatility of smartphones can influence a significant upswing in efficiency and productivity.

The valuable insights we gathered are directly incorporated into the new version of the app and its roadmap. So, without further ado, here is the

Comprehensive list of supported features with V2.0.

We have continued to enhance the Picking and Putaway processes and made them more thorough.

Pickers will now be able to pick both serialized and non-serialized products using the necessary Pick Handling Units (Pick HUs). We recognized the specialties that come along with picking serialized products, and we have carefully designed the app to simplify it for our users.

Do you use GTINs (Global Trade Identification Numbers)? No problem, we’ve got you covered. Scanning of both European Article Numbers (EANs) and Universal Product Codes (UPCs) is possible now.

Talking about Putaway, it is possible to Putaway HUs starting from a warehouse order or by scanning the barcode of an HU that you might encounter in the goods receipt area.

With the new version, support for the most common exception cases has been provided. It is now possible to handle quantity differences and the need to change the destination bin for both Picking and Putaway processes.

While assigning warehouse orders to a resource, you can now do it in 2 ways - Assign orders directly to a resource. Or even better, you can bank on the warehouse management’s resource management feature to set up resource queues and funnel orders to a resource through it.

Finally, to round off, the app is also equipped with

  • Enhanced scanning experience - we took an already good feature and made it better with some important usability and performance improvements.

  • Easy and Secure onboarding

  • Biometric authentication

  • English and German language support

What's more? We have a lineup of exciting innovations planned for 2023. We’ll be publishing the roadmap shortly. Please stay tuned here for an update on that.

How to engage with us?

The best way is to download the app, test it and make your experiences firsthand.

After you have set up the necessary configurations required to connect the app to your warehouse management solution, it should be as easy as walking over to your warehouse and trying to do Picking or Putaway using an iPhone. You can refer to the administrator guide for information on the required configurations.
