The topic of smart metering has been covered by SAP for more than a decade now.
However, due to many reasons there is still very strong interest in this subject: the planned rollout of intelligent devices has been postponed or not as extensive as it had been planned originally. Moreover, with the digitization in the utilities industry, changes in legislation and new types of deployment options and / or technologies smart metering is present as has been never before.
SAP AMI Integration and SAP Energy Data Management have been over the time the SAP anchor solutions that have enabled many utilities worldwide execute utilities business processes on SAP for Utilities.
Within our workshop, we will cover all of the above-mentioned aspects, trends and technologies over the time: to start with the original architecture based on the concept of MDUS (Meter Data Unification and Synchronization) and the supported use cases with their functional enhancements that have been implemented over the time. In addition, the evolution from this three-tier to the two-tier-architecture will be discussed and implementation experiences and empiric customer examples will be given.
Finally, the new development around Cloud for Energy as the next generation of utilities central platform will be introduced and first insights in the solution will be provided through system demos as well as mock-ups for upcoming user interfaces.
