Disclaimer: note that this blog was published prior to the re-branding related to SAP Build portfolio, which was announced at SAP TechEd 2022. SAP Launchpad service and SAP Work Zone come together under the SAP Build Work Zone brand, with two editions: standard edition (formerly SAP Launchpad service) and advanced edition (formerly SAP Work Zone). You can learn more in this blog post by Aviad Rivlin. See also the announcement for SAP Build.
I would like to point you to the latest news around digital experience services on SAP Business Technology platform – with focus on SAP Launchpad service and SAP Work Zone.
If you are still using SAP Portal on-premise or cloud, we recommend to make yourself familiar with this offering and consider a transition to these services. You will find plenty of learning material in this blog, see for example the recording and the slides of the SAP MaxAttention Innovation Workshop.
In case you are an SAP Partner, you can register for some upcoming partner workshops focusing on SAP Launchpad service and SAP Work Zone.
Product News
Roadmaps Available
The updated roadmap for SAP Launchpad service and the new roadmap for SAP Work Zone are both available. You can find them in the Roadmap Explorer.
Watch new Product Demo Videos
On our YouTube channel you can watch some new product videos demonstrating product features and configuration scenarios. One new video shows how administrators can add an SAP S/4HANA on-premise system as a content provider to SAP Launchpad service:
In the second video you learn how you could use your personal digital experience dashboard in SAP Work Zone, which displays all relevant information to fulfill your tasks and connects you also to all SAP applications by a single point of entry:
Enterprise search can now be enabled for SAP Work Zone: users can search for all applications that they have permissions to access (SAP S/4HANA apps and local apps):
It is also possible to exchange small set of data between different UI integration cards added on the same page on SAP Work Zone (= context awareness).
With the recent availability of SAP Task Center on SAP Business Technology Platform, it is now possible for users to access work items across different solutions in one place. This capability has been requested by many customers over the last few years, and we are happy to announce that it is now generally available. Task Center allows to aggregate approval tasks from multiple SAP solutions: SAP S/4HANA, SAP S/4HANA Cloud, SAP SuccessFactors, and SAP Fieldglass (further SAP solutions will be supported). SAP Task center is provided to the end user via the SAP Launchpad service.
SAP NetWeaver 7.5 Maintenance: Updated Section on SAP Enterprise Portal
I would like to remind you that mainstream maintenance for SAP NetWeaver 7.5 (and SAP Enterprise Portal 7.5) will continue to the end of 2027, with extended maintenance to 2030. Note that no functional enhancements are planned anymore for SAP Enterprise Portal on SAP NetWeaver 7.5 (only bug fixes will be available). This is also the case for Knowledge Management as part of SAP Enterprise Portal 7.5.
Read the document about SAP NetWeaver 7.5 Maintenance Strategy, there is a special section about SAP Enterprise Portal, which was also updated recently.

Learn about the Key Components of SAP Work Zone
SAP is strengthening the UX integration capabilities of SAP Business Technology Platform with the SAP Work Zone offering. It is one of the digital experience services on SAP BTP (together with SAP Launchpad service) for building branded digital workplaces which connect people to business processes, information & business data. It also enables a consistent digital experience for end users across all digital touchpoints. My new blog gives you an overview on the key components of SAP Work Zone, which are relevant for the end users using SAP Work Zone as their personal digital experience dashboard to fulfill their daily tasks. On this screenshot you can see for example a newly created workspace, which you could use for different use cases: to share company-wide information, interact with colleagues or for providing a central place for an internal project:
SAP Work Zone also allows to access SAP applications and systems via a built-in central launchpad. Read my blog and learn how to work with your personal digital experience dashboard provided by SAP Work Zone.
SAP MaxAttention Innovation Workshop “How to Create Digital Workplace Experience for the New World of Work”
Recently we hosted a virtual SAP MaxAttention Innovation Workshop “How to Create Digital Workplace Experience for the New World of Work” with speakers from SAP Product Engineering, Technology and Innovation, SAP MaxAttention Center of Expertise and SAP customers. The topics evolved were all around Digital Experience. SAP Launchpad Service and SAP Work Zone were also demonstrated and use cases were discussed, including the important topic of transition paths from other solutions such as SAP Enterprise Portal or SAP Jam.
I strongly recommend to have a look at this blog on SAP Community where you will also find links to the slide decks and also to the recording. The Work Zone and Launchpad session was presented on day 2.
