Introduction:

  • In this video series, we will introduce you to the high level concepts of SAP Open Connectors

  • We will also talk about the relatively new HL7 FHIR standard that allows for exchanging healthcare information

  • Finally, we will talk about how we can build our own SAP Open Connector to retrieve data from Epic FHIR Sandbox systems

Synopsis:

  • HL7 FHIR is a relatively new standard that defines how healthcare information can be exchanged

  • There are multiple benefits of using HL7 FHIR

    • Makes it easy to provide healthcare info to anyone that has a need for it

    • Access healthcare in a wide variety of devices and form factors

    • Ease of application development

  • SAP Open Connectors simplifies connectivity to 3rd party apps on non-SAP products

  • Currently, there are more than 250+ connectors to various non-SAP cloud applications

  • However, there are no SAP Open Connectors to retrieve healthcare info from Epic or Cerner providers

  • In this video series, we will look at how we can build our own SAP Open Connectors to retrieve Patient resources from Epic FHIR Sandbox systems

  • We can build our own SAP Open Connectors to connect to non-SAP cloud applications

  •  Common Resources and Formulas within SAP Open Connectors allows us to push complex application logic into the SAP Open Connectors

  • SAP Open Connectors can be consumed from any SAP services or your apps.  For example

    • API Management
