The SAP One Domain Model,
the lingua franca of the integrated intelligent suite, has been released in its 'December 2020' manifestation. It's available in the master data replication
via SAP Cloud Platform Master Data Integration service and supports the
end-to-end business processes of the Intelligent Suite namely:
- Recruit to Retire (understand, manage and optimize all aspects of your employees and external workers)
- Lead to Cash (manage all aspects of the customer experience)
- Source to Pay (manage all purchasing processes)
- Design to Operate (create a digital mirror of your entire supply chain – from design to planning, manufacturing, logistics and ongoing maintenance)
The latest release consists of two parts: the actual model, which is available for download for the first time and the One Domain Model Explorer as its companion web application. Find out what's new below:
SAP One Domain Model
Each asset in the SAP One Domain Model is defined in the Core Data Services (CDS) format that is also used by
SAP Cloud Application Programming model. The SAP Cloud Application Programming Model is a framework of languages, libraries, and tools for building enterprise-grade services and applications. It guides developers along a ‘golden path’ of proven
best practices and a great wealth of
out-of-the-box solutions to recurring tasks.
This release of SAP One Domain Model makes the CDS sources available to interested users for the first time. By using the CDS files, a user can examine all details of the SAP One Domain Model directly. Along with getting deeper insights, it's also possible to use the CDS files as input for the SAP Cloud Application Programming model tools. This allows building Java or Node.js applications or services with the SAP One Domain Model as model basis. We'll follow up on that topic in a later blog post and provide a step-by-step guide on how to do that.

SAP One Domain Model Explorer
The SAP One Domain Model has already been released via the
SAP API Business Hub. This provides a visual documentation of all business entities and their relationships to each other.
For user convenience this release adds keyboard navigation along with various small bug fixes behind the scenes. In addition, center diagram view can be completely hidden in unsupported browsers. Namely this is valid for Safari on Apple devices.
