On February 25
th, 2021, the SAP on IBM i development team provided their first SAP on IBM i webcast this year. The webcast replay and the presentation are now available for download at

Based on the feedback from the poll at the end of the Webcast in December 2020, this webcast covered the SAP Software Update Manger as the main topic, along with some general SAP and IBM release news. It provided insight into the latest SAP Software Logistics Toolset 1.0 SPS31, Java upgrades, special upgrade features like the Database Migration Option (DMO) and near Zero Downtime Maintenance (nZDM), as well as some techniques to reduce the overall upgrade runtime by parallelism.
Again, a poll was presented at the end of the webcast to find out what topics will be of interest for the upcoming webcasts. If you have requests for topics for future webcasts, you can always contact the SAP on IBM i development team or add your comments to this blog entry. The next webcast is planned for June 2021. We will inform you about the exact time and contents when the registration page has been set up.
Note: If you are interested in the webcast replay because you are planning or performing an SAP upgrade, please be aware that there is currently a restriction for nZDM with SUM 2.0 SP10 (Software Logistics Toolset 1.0 SP stack 31). It is documented in
SAP Note 1678564 ("Restrictions") and
SAP Note 2977071 (update labeled with < C5018355 Feb/15/2021 >). Please check the most current versions of these SAP Notes before starting an SAP upgrade using the nZDM method.
