From SAP Jam Collaboration 1802 release, SAP Jam Collaboration supports the tracking of page view traffic analytics so that administrators can have visibility on metrics such as number of page visitors by the hour or day, usage patterns, content interaction, device and operating system usage, and internet browser usage.

This blog is to demonstrate how to configure Google Analytics to use as clickstream analysis of SAP Jam Collaboration.

Required:

  • SAP Jam Collaboration: enterprise, advance plus, advance editions

  • Google Gmail account

  • Company Administrator access to SAP Jam Collaboration tenant

*In order to use Google analytics, Google Gmail account is a must.

Steps Overview:

  • Setup Google Analytics Account

  • Configure SAP Jam Collaboration's 3rd Party Analytics

  • Start using Google Analytics for your SAP Jam Collaboration tenant

Signup for Google Analytics

Unlike other common Google apps, such as Google Drive, Docs, Sheets, etc, signing up for Google Gmail account does not give you automatic access to Google Analytics. Separate singup is necessary, but very simple steps.

1. Visit https://analytics.google.com/analytics/web/. Google Analytics will ask you to logon to Google Gmail account.

Setup Google Analytics Account

Will be ask to create a new account.

Create an "Website" account by providing the followings

  • Account Name : Any

  • Website Name : SAP Jam Collaboration's Company ID

  • Website URL : Host or Hostname of SAP Jam Collaboration tenant

All other values and settings are up to site administrator, Click on "Get Tracking ID"

Tips: Where to get Company ID and Host?

For SAP Jam Collaboration with SAP Successfactors Fundation, go to Company administrator menu's Overview.

For SAP Jam Collaboration with SAP Cloud Platform's Identity Authorizations Services(SAP CP IAS), Host can be found at the same place as the above SAP Successfactors Foundation's case. Company ID is SAP CP IAS's tenant name.

Eg) in case, https://jamdemo.accounts.ondemand.com/ is SAP CP IAS tenant's URL, "jamdemo" is theCcompany ID.

2. Click on Singup and accept Terms and Conditions.

3. Copy Tracking ID.

Configure SAP Jam Collaboration's 3rd Party Analytics

On SAP Jam Collaboration, access "Company Administrator's menu", Admin.

Under Product Setup, click on Third Party Analytics.

Enter the Copied Tracking ID from Google Analytics to Third Party Analytics's Tracking ID and enable Google Analytics. Save Changes.

That's it!

SAP Jam Collaboration provides its own analytics reports and collaboration dashboards already for analyzing collaboration behaviors. But of course, there are other third party analytic tools such as Google Analytics, which is a free and easy to use site views/clicks analytic tool, providing different flavors of analysis. SAP Jam Collaboration is providing capability to use other analytic tools, and this would give SAP Jam Collaboration site managers better data and information to improve enterprise collaboration.
