You asked, we answered. SAP now supports customers running SAP IQ on the Amazon Web Services (AWS) public cloud. This means you can easily provision infrastructure on AWS and extend the proven benefits of IQ, to the cloud! Read on below for more details:
What’s supported:
The supported version is IQ 16 SP08 PL20 and both Linux and Windows platforms have been certified by SAP. SAP has also validated SAP Control Center and the SAP IQ Cockpit for monitoring and administration of IQ running on the Amazon Cloud.
How it works:
Customers can create their own AMI (Amazon Machine Image), and install IQ on it. This is a BYOL – Bring Your Own License – model, where the customer will purchase IQ from SAP, acquire the software and license from SAP, and then install the software and their license on the AMI.
What’s to come:
Our next step will be to create AMIs with IQ installed on them, so customers can deploy IQ in the cloud, right out-of-the-box. We expect those to be available by mid-2015 or earlier. We heard what you had to say on the SAP IQ in the Cloud survey, and the engineering and product teams are working hard to deliver the ease of use and quick deployment you’re looking for.
As you can see SAP’s investment in SAP IQ continues as IQ’s capabilities expand to fit more use cases! I hope you’ll take advantage of this and you’re as excited as we are about the news
