As we come to the end of 2022, we take one last look at the Customer Influence Portal to see what our customers have been voting for. In 2022 we have delivered we have delivered over 140 new features into SAP Analytics Cloud and these covered almost 100 requests from our Customer Influence Portal with over 2000 votes. Let's take a look at the items that were covered in QRC4 2022.
User Collaboration
User collaboration has increasingly become a key topic for SAP Analytics Cloud customers as we continue to embrace flexible working but also the need to collaborate with colleagues near and far. As such our top voted for item in QRC4 2022 with almost 100 votes is improvements to our commenting capabilities including:
Commenting:
Increased data point commenting capabilities
Datapoint commenting (in table and comment widget) can be added to data cells sourced from calculations defined in the Modeler, which include calculated accounts (accounts with formulas), calculated measures, and conversion measures.
Please note that commenting will be available where model variables are enabled. Where currency variables are used, the variable value is not considered as part of the comment context.
Dimension Comment
With dimension comments, users can now comment on dimension member combinations in a table, enabling the ability to define the context for them. These comments are not associated with values, but are rather a description of a set of dimension members being used in the table. These comments also come with flexible and powerful edit capabilities. It is possible to copy and paste dimension comments within the same table, across tables within the same story, from tables in another story, and from external sources like a Microsoft Excel spreadsheet.
Scheduling:
Set Story Filter Values While Scheduling a Story
When scheduling a story, users now have the option to select filter values to deliver filtered content. This can be done while creating a schedule or edited within a schedule.
Administration:
There have been a lot of hot Administration features delivered in Q4 2022, these included additional features in Workspaces, Analytics Catalog, Content Network and also Data Centre locations to name but a few.
Workspaces:
One of our Top 5 features this quarter where a number of important new features in workspaces. These included:
- Assign a Team as Workspace admin instead of individual users
- Workspace Management / Display Team Description as well
- Move and copy content to/from workspace
Analytics Catalog:
Analytics Catalog is a key resource to help our customer manage their content within SAP Analytics Catalog. We have been receiving a number of requests for new features and in Q4 2022 we have delivered the following:
- Administration level control on the catalog settings.
- Ability to Pin one or more SAC Catalog Tiles as the first tile for all users/certain group of users
- Default tenant filter for catalog
- SAC Content Catalog - Filters and Administration enhancement
Content Network
With more and more content being delivered into our Content Network our customers have been requesting better ways to copy, move and manage this content within their SAP Analytics Cloud tenant. Some of these requests include:
- Rework UX for creating packages in Content Network regarding dependencies
- Need ability to export objects which are outside of public folder
Data Centre Locations:
Several of our UK customers have requested the ability to provision an SAP Analytics Cloud tenant in a UK datacentre. In various vertical markets, particularly UK Government and Local Government, storing data outside the UK can create resistance to adoption of the solution and in some cases, end the engagement. We are happy to announce that is now possible.
Enterprise Planning
We have delivered some exciting Planning features in 2022 and in Q4 the team continued to deliver incredible new features to aid planning users. These include:
Calendar
Starting with our Planning Calendar an important part of the overall planning process:
Plan Process Management – Bulk Editing for Calendar Tasks
It is now possible to make bulk edits for calendar tasks, simplifying the maintenance of many planning processes. A new wizard guides users through four individual steps to make updates. Changes will be applied in the background and visible upon refresh.
Updates include:
- General information (e.g. Name/Description)
- Work Files
- Time parameters (e.g. Start/Due Date)
- Participants (e.g. Owner, Assignee, Reviewer)
- Others (e.g. Parent Process, Context)
We have also added the ability to add story located in workspace to a Calendar Task.
Data Locking:
Plan Entry – Data Locking Support for Restricted Measures/Accounts
Data locks are now properly enforced on restricted measures and accounts and conversion measures, based on the lock states of their source’s measures and accounts. Both modeler and story defined restrictions are supported. Previously, the lock state of restricted measures/accounts were shown as “?”.
This feature enabled us to close several customer requests around Data Locking including:
- Fix Data Locking on Restricted Measures
- Visualize data locking for conversion measures
- Allow Data Locking on conversion measures
- Data locking display issues with the calculated measures in planning tables/stories
SAP BPC Live – Enable New Line
SAP BPC integration is a key topic for our planning users and with the “Add Member” functionality, users can now enable a new line to a table built on an SAP BPC Embedded model. This functionality is supported for booked dimensions on row when measures are placed on column.
Some additional planning customer requests delivered in Q4 2022 include:
- Advanced formula should bear 2 Version parameters holding the same Version
- CARRYFORWARD logic on Account dimension member
Microsoft Office Integration:
As always, we continue to add great new integration features in to Microsoft Office. These include:
Ability to define a custom order for measures or dimensions in a Microsoft Excel report
With the option Custom Order, it is possible to define a customized order in the selected members area that will be applied in the report. Dimension and measure members can be moved using the arrow icons or drag&drop in the member selector area.
