Over the past couple of years we have provided a fully configured, optimized for developers and ready to use out of the box version of the SAP HANA platform referred to as the SAP HANA Developer Edition.
This has been an AWS and Azure based server solution running 32GB and 64GB of memory, With the edition of the SAP HANA express edition (HXE) we began to phase out this version. HXE was designed and created to provide even more opportunities for developers and more choices for where it can be run and was planned as our natural evolution from the Developer Edition going forward.
Now with the pending launch of the SAP HANA 2.00 SPS02 version we have decided to announce the SAP HANA Developer Edition will be officially retired on September 15, 2017. Any existing instances that you have running will of course remain running as those are yours but you will no longer be able to launch any new instances of this system.
Going forward we encourage you to explore the SAP HANA express edition (HXE) and continue to provide your feedback as you have done in the past with the Developer Edition to us for continued improvements and enhancements to the offering.
