Dear community,

I’m excited to introduce you to some of the highlights of the latest release of SAP Business Application Studio! In this blog post, you will also find the latest news on our new Develop Full-Stack Applications Using Productivity Tools in SAP Business Application Studio Learning Journey.

Microsoft Visual Studio Code Desktop Client for SAP Business Application Studio

Would you like to enjoy the user experience and the productivity tools of SAP Business Application Studio in your local Microsoft Visual Studio Code desktop client? With the latest release, SAP Business Application Studio allows you to remotely control your dev spaces that are hosted in SAP Business Application Studio. You can take over a dev space in your local Visual Studio Code desktop client and use it as if you are working in SAP Business Application Studio. You can run commands and use SAP Business Application Studio's great productivity tools from your local Visual Studio Code desktop client including the Storyboard, the Service Center, Run Configurations, and more. The only thing you need to do is to download the extension and connect it to your landscape to get started - no special knowledge or software is required. For further information please read Geert-Jan Klaps' blog post Access SAP Business Application Studio as a remote from Visual Studio Code.

Improved Search in Service Center

In the Service Center (the central entry point for a variety of service providers), you can now search for a service within a package from the SAP API Business Hub, the API Business Hub Enterprise, or the Unified Customer Landscape Service Provider. With the search functionality, you don’t have to go through the list of available services to find a service. This allows you to easily integrate services from the Service Center into your application development.

For further information, see Explore SAP API Business Hub Services.

Allow Easy Service Transition from API Business Hub to Productive System

Imagine the following: For testing purposes you consumed a service from the SAP API Business Hub. Now you would like to change it to the real live productive service. With the new release, this is easily possible: you can now edit the data source for an SAP System service from the Storyboard. To change the data source of an external service to be used in production, you only have to right-click on the service name and click Edit Data Source. From the editor, you can then select the desired data source and service path.

For further information, see Storyboard and Project Explorer.

Improving SAP Mobile Development Kit App Deployment in the Task Explorer

You can now easily create and configure reusable deploy tasks for your Mobile-Centric, Freestyle Application in your Full Stack Application with Productivity Tools project using the Task Explorer. With just one click, it is possible to execute the created deploy tasks. Using a dedicated user interface, you can create and edit the task parameters.
