In 2021, we set up the first Hack2build initiative on SAP Integration suite, wherein the focus was to build migration tools. Figaf and INT4, two of the three winners in 2021, moved forward and published their solutions in SAP Store in a few months of their participation in the Hack2Build initiative.

In 2022, the SAP Co-Innovation Lab in cooperation with SAP Integration Suite Product Management and other Partner Solution Adoption teams,  brought together Partner interests across Americas, Europe and Asia Pacific and Japan who took part in the challenge to build 3rd Party Adapters and Integration Solutions using SAP Integration Suite.

This blog enumerates the results of the initiative held in Europe, Middle East & Africa (EMEA), the Middle- and Eastern Europe (MEE) from Jun 22-29, 2022 and in Asia Pacific and Japan region from  July 5-12, 2022.

20 Partner companies from 9 countries joined the event virtually and took part in this initiative across Europe and Asia regions.

Hack2Build, ‘beyond a hackathon’ is an initiative from SAP which brings together the creativity and speed of prototyping by the partners in just 7 days. Partners validate their ideas with SAP during the ‘Hackathon phase’ and are encouraged to move beyond the prototyping phase  to the full scope  ‘build phase’, to develop their market-ready solution.

In this section, we will outline three solutions per EMEA and APJ region, who were adjudged as the winners.

EMEA and MEE Region:

Winner: NTT Data Business Solutions AG:

NTT Data saw an opportunity to bridge SAP data and LeanIX, a leading Enterprise Architecture Management (EAM) solution. The team built a LeanIX adapter for Cloud Integration and provided standard content to import the running integration flows (iFlows) of SAP Cloud Integration to LeanIX. This comes in handy when one needs to get all interfaces, applications and data objects running on SAP Integration Suite in LeanIX. The seamless integration would help companies in their Cloud Strategy implementation. For more details refer this blog from NTT DATA.

Two partner teams emerged to take the 1st Runner-up position.

1st Runner-Up: FIS Informationssysteme und Consulting GmbH

FIS came up with an idea to integrate small and specialized suppliers with wholesalers in the absence of the direct electronic data interchange (EDI) integration.

With SAP Integration Suite, FIS built a Supplier self-service solution to enable their customers in the cloud toseamlessly integrate with their suppliers. The solution aims to achieve a high level of automation, to eliminate manual interventions.

1st Runner-Up: Metafinanz, a wholly owned subsidiary of Allianz Technology SE with their IT Partner Accesa

Typically, printing documents have a long processing time and requires a physical signature. However, in the current times, the customers have an existing electronic signature solution in place and it integrates with Line of Business (LoB) SAP Solutions such as SAP Ariba and SAP SuccessFactors. Metafinanz & Accesa, who participated as one team in the event, have developed a generic Integration Adapter for LoB Solutions with Electronic (Digital) Signature Software. This solution aims to enable remote work and decrease processing times.

The solution allows the document template to be uploaded and configured in eSign Anywhere, a 3rd party software for electronic signatures. The following 3 integration flows were developed as part of the Hack2Build event:

  1. Integration with Success Factors Employee Central.

  2. Callback eSign Anywhere on Completed Documents – Triggered when the user signs the document received by email.

  3. sFTP Transfer of the documents and logs from eSign Anywhere – Update Signature Status Completed in Success Factors Employee Central.

Beyond the hackathon, the team plans to configure the solution for other electronic signature softwares such as AdobeSign and DocuSign.

Asia Pacific and Japan Region:

Winner: Bosch

Bosch Global Software Technologies through their Esee Ticketing solution, enabled a seamless integration of ticket module between SAP Commerce Cloud and SAP Service Cloud using SAP Integration Suite as middleware. The solution leveraged standardized iflows along with use of standard objects in SAP Commerce and SAP Service cloud  and enabled a seamless bi-directional data transfer including complex attributes such as attachments.

Bosch: Esee Ticketing

1st Runner up: EPI-USE

EPI-USE built an Integration with SuccessFactors to Employee Central Payroll, needed for Australian Compliance while onboarding employees. EPI-USE: SuccessFactors Onboarding 2.0 to Employee Central / Employee Central Payroll Integration for Australian Compliance Forms

2nd Runner Up: Hitachi Vantara

Hitachi developed an integration package prototype which replicates SAP SuccessFactors Employee Central data which is needed in 3rd party HR management systems for Time and Payroll processes. It includes transferring the initial load and all the changes of employees for data synchronization.

Hitachi: SAP SuccessFactors and non-SAP HRMS integration via SAP Integration Suite

It was good to see immense interest shared by our partners to participate and showcase their innovations leveraging SAP Integration Suite to build 3rd party adapters and integration solutions. We thank all the SAP teams who were involved in supporting our partners in this Hack2Build initiative.

Listen to feedback from a couple of partners and our judges about this integration Hack2Build initiative.

The SAP Co-Innovation Lab along with Partner Ecosystem Success and the SAP Integration Suite Product teams would be keen to cooperate with our partners who participated in this Hack2Build initiative to help them to realise the full scope of their solutions in the next weeks.

We believe this will empower innovation through a combined integration solution portfolio with innovative partner IP underpinned and powered by SAP Business Technology Platform (SAP BTP).
